Charcuterie boards like the one above (sign up for the newsletter to see what I’m talking about) should hang in the Louvre. While I question if I went into the wrong business, find out if you could be in the right one with job openings, networking events and Birmingham news you need to know.

🌟Alabama’s tech scene is taking off faster than Olivia Rodrigo’s career. 👩‍💻 Take a look at the latest local startup news, including $1.2B invested in Birmingham-based Therapy Brands

🌟 You might find this amusing. 🎢 Alabama Adventure is looking to hire almost 400 employees for the summer–learn how to apply.

🌟 A woman in Poland called animal control on a croissant stuck in a tree, believing it to be a dangerous animal lurking outside her home. Guess it wasn’t bread in captivity. 🥐

What’s pulling rank in the business world?

Walk a mile in my shoes 👠

Or better yet, Stelona Shoes. The local start-up is one of the six we talked with who are gearing up for Alabama Launchpad’s Concept-Stage Virtual Finale. See who takes home $25K on May 12. Sponsored by Alabama Launchpad

Business is brew(ery)ing 🍻

Trussville’s Ferus Artisan Ales is opening a second location in Avondale, but that’s not the only part of the city getting attention. From Italian cuisine to Southern cooking with a twist, new restaurants are popping up all over.

Make big deposits, my gloss is poppin’ 💸

We’re all just trying to live that “7 rings” lifestyle, but until we land recording contracts, start with a summer side hustle. We found over 100 local internships and part-time jobs for high school and college-aged residents.

Yia Mas! 🥂

Also known as “Cheers,”—which is what you’ll be saying over and over during dinner at Nabeel’s Café and Market. Put away your passport and enjoy authentic Mediterranean fare whether you pick up for a picnic or settle in for a cozy date night. Sponsored by Nabeel’s Café and Market

You scoot, I scoot, Jack 🛵

Get ready to ride—scooters and bikes are back in Bham. Despite drippin’ like Don Draper in a full suit, Mayor Woodfin still couldn’t resist hopping on a VeoRide scooter.

More moves than Zach Morris 🤩

Even the Saved By The Bell heartthrob with the same name didn’t have moves like Mercantile on Morris. The new building is shaking up the street, and not just because it’s a mixed-use development. Between luxury retail and condos with primo views, see how the complex is bringing business to Birmingham

Can’t put a price on fun 🎡

Well, maybe you can. The City of Gardendale’s William Noble Recreation Complex is undergoing an expensive Sandra Dee-level makeover, minus the perm. Instead of getting the attention of Danny Zuko, the $27M upgrade hopes to attract visitors and money to the area.

If I could turn back *signs 😢

I’d flip Tropicaleo’s “Closed” sign to “Open” again. The Birmingham fan favorite for Puerto Rican and Latin American dishes is temporarily closing, but we hope to see them reopen in about a month.
