Big Mama’s, a popular food truck that offers up made-from-scratch, home-cooked meals, plans to open a meat and three “grab and go” restaurant concept in Leeds this coming December.

The new eatery will be located at 1689 10th Street SE in the downtown area.

The first Big Mama’s food truck opened in Birmingham June 2024. Since then, the business has grown rapidly adding two additional trucks. They have received requests and served meals in seven Birmingham-metro area counties.

The secret to Big Mama’s Food Truck success and upcoming brick-and-mortar location is its traditional Southern cuisine.

“We’ve got a whole lot of Southern hospitality on the menu. A bunch of barbecue favorites, everything from ribs to smoked chicken and pulled pork.

“We also have collard greens, baked beans, deviled eggs, potato salad, mac and cheese and a few other favorites like cheesecake, banana pudding and strawberry shortcake.”

New grab-and-go restaurant

The new spot in Leeds will likely be open 24 hours a day and six days a week, according to Hamilton.

Patrons can grab hot sandwiches at the front of the restaurant or pick up a meat and three from a staffed buffet line in the back of the building.

All-time food truck favorites like the beef tips and rice and ribs will be on hand.

Customers can also expect:

Wider variety of meats
Holiday plates (turkey and dressing)
Cabbage
Pasta salads
Broccoli casserole
Mashed potatoes with gravy

“We love people. Big Mama’s is all about family. I got my recipes started from my Big Mama showing me how to cook and all I did was update them and then put them out there for people who may not have somebody at home that could cook for them. We just love everybody and we want to show them how much we care through food.”
