New brewery in Avondale, Eat at Panoptic, Italian restaurant + more coming to Bham
What does a new brewery, elevated Italian restaurant and upcoming retail development all have in common? They’re some of the newest projects coming to the Magic City and you’re going to want them on your radar. Let’s see what else is opening in Birmingham.

1. Ferus on 41st
Ferus Artisan Ales is adding a new location to Avondale. They’ll be brewing at another spot to add your Birmingham brewery bucket list and opening in the old Fancy’s on Fifth building.
The brewery first opened in Trussville in October 2019 and is ready to expand. They’re serving everything from hoppy IPAs and delicious sours to mouthwatering sandwiches and appetizers. Check out our latest article about this exciting new development to learn more.
2. Eat at Panoptic
Mark those calendars for May 1. Eat at Panoptic is ready to open their first brick and mortar in Irondale. Eat at Panoptic is best known for their catering and food truck, but over the last year, Chef Raquel Ervin has been working to open the new cafe.
The menu will feature items like:
- Chicken & Waffles
- Chef Ervin’s signature 6-cheese spinach dip
- 13 popular slider flavors
- And more!
Patrons will have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating, curbside pickup or delivery.
3. Luca
A new Italian restaurant in the works? Say less! According to the Birmingham Business Journal, well known restaurateur, Nick Pihakis, is planning to launch a new Italian concept called Luca in Pepper Place. Luca will serve Italian cuisines from chef Rita Bernhardt and be located in the former Architectural Heritage building.

4. Tasty Town
The deliciousness doesn’t end there for the Pihakis Restaurant Group. Along with Luca, the hospitality group is also opening Tasty Town. It’ll serve Mediterranean cuisine mixed with your classic meat and three concept. According to FSR Magazine, guests will be able to customize their plate with one meat and three sides.
Tasty Town is planned to open in the Lumen housing development in Parkside.

5. Adventurer’s Coffee Company
But first, coffee—that’s my motto for everything in life. Now we have another place opening that’ll give us that fuel to make it through the day. According to the Birmingham Business Journal, Adventurer’s Coffee Company is opening a second location in Alabaster with a grand opening slated for April 22.

6. New Trussville retail development
What was once an old bowling alley known as Trussville Bowling Lanes, will soon transform into a retail development. According to the Trussville Tribune, the building owned by Barber Companies is welcoming future tenants in the 8,700 square feet of leasable space after renovations.
Currently, you can find Half Shell Oyster House and Great Harvest Bread Company in the building owned by Barber Companies, but soon there’ll be over 8,000 additional square feet to lease. Although, there are no tenants commited to opening yet, we’ll make sure to keep you updated.
