Birmingham is always buzzing with trendy new eateries, organizations and more. As we gear up for summer, let’s run through the businesses and restaurants new to the Magic City. Buckle up, we’ve got a list of 27 spots that have opened their doors in 2024 so far.

1. Umami | Trussville

Umami’s menu was created to provide guests with a unique Asian cuisine experience with carefully selected ingredients. Now, that cuisine is available in Trussville!

Psst, the Pinche Arroz is a must-try.

2. Big Whiskey’s American Restaurant & Bar | Alabaster

Founded in Springfield, Missouri in 2006, Big Whiskey’s features signature items such as the famous Chicken Ranch Alfredo, The Honey Stung Burger, Boom Boom Shrimp Tacos and The Brunch Melt. 

True to its name, the restaurant has an extensive drink menu including 120+ whiskeys. 

3. Lickin’ Good Donuts | Pelham

If you’re looking for a sweet treat, stop by the new Lickin Good Donuts in Pelham for a morning pick-me-up. From kolaches and donuts to smoothies, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

4.  Little Betty Steak Bar | Lane Parke

Mountain Brook officially welcomed Little Betty Steak Bar.  From steakhouse classics to hand-cut pasta and a curated cocktail list, you’re going to want to make a reservation ASAP.

5. The Rougaroux | Mountain Brook

The Rougaroux—a beloved Cajun-themed restaurant in Forest Park—officially opened its second location in Mountain Brook!

The restaurant is known for its New Orleans-style decor and authentic Cajun fare—meaning all things fried—like gulf shrimp, bon secour oysters, Alabama catfish and eggplant.

6. Luca Lagotto + Luca Mercato Lagotto | Homewood

Experience an authentic taste of Italy in Homewood with Luca Lagotto, Pihakis Restaurant Group’s latest full-service Italian restaurant.

Right next door is Luca Mercato Lagotto—a charming market that sells a selection of prepared foods, wines and specialty products rarely found outside Italy.

7. Mexi King’s Grill | Green Springs Highway

Mexi King’s Grill, a new restaurant showcasing a blend of Mexican and American cuisine, was founded by two longtime friends with a shared vision of starting their own restaurant.

Enjoy daily specials, including perks like kids eating free on Mondays, Dollaritas for Thirsty Thursday and Saturday night karaoke.

Satisfy your sweet tooth at The Summit’s newest dessert spot, Churro Station.

In addition to classic cinnamon sugar churros, they also offer the “nachurro,” a savory churro filled with cheddar cheese.

9. The Craft Burger | 280 near Greystone

The Craft Burger, a local burger joint with the motto “An Honest Burger for an Honest Buck,” is open on Highway 280 near Greystone.

10. Herban Soul Café | Woodlawn

Stop by Herban Soul Café to enjoy a diverse range of wholesome food and beverage choices, featuring a dozen unique herbal tea blends along with sweet pastries.

11. Capella Pizzeria | Trussville

Capella Pizzeria opened its second Birmingham location in Homestead Village. The family-owned restaurant brings Italy to the Greater Birmingham Area with custom wood-fired pizza, community-style tables, classic Italian music and European football games on TV.

12. Tina’s Market | Homewood

Tina’s Market—formerly Teenie’s Take-Home Market in Mountain Brook Village—moved into the recently-vacated Hero Doughnuts location in Homewood.

The take-home market specializes in comfort food including weekly specials like meat lasagna, Greek chicken and rice, Avgolemono soup and creamy scalloped potatoes.

13. Goodies Toy Store | Homewood

A new toy store and play concept opened in the former Hero Doughnuts location across from Homewood’s Central Park. (Neighbors with Tina’s Market)!

Known as Goodies Toy Store, this first-of-its-kind business sells goodie bags and boxes for kids to fill with toys and play onsite. 

14. Subs ‘n Grub | Center Point

Subs N’ Grub opened in Center Point and is the spot for a delicious and fresh selection of quality subs and sandwiches.

15. Sakana Sushi Bar & Grill | Hoover

Looking for a new sushi spot? Sakana Sushi Bar & Grill officially opened its doors in Hoover and is waiting to welcome you.

16. The Mayor | Lakeview

Owner Colby Conklin opened his third restaurant in Birmingham. The Mayor, located between Hattie Bs and Umani in Lakeview, features a menu similar to that of Conklin’s EastWest downtown.

17. Glass Panda | Hoover

Glass Panda, an Asian street food-inspired restaurant offers elevated street food with influences from Japanese, Korean and Chinese cuisine.

18. Phil Sandoval’s | Hoover

Owned by Power Brands Hospitality Group, the restaurant is known for its delicious Mexican cuisine, cocktails and daily specials.

19. Spice of Life Jamaica | Linn Park

Birmingham’s Downtown welcomed Spice of Life Jamaica, located near the historic Linn Park.

Along with Jamaican cuisine, owner Leroy Russell can serve up Italian, French, Hispanic, Creole and American meals.

20. Stone Age Korean BBQ | Riverchase Galleria

Stone Age Korean BBQ, originally based in Huntsville, expanded to Birmingham with its first location at the Riverchase Galleria—specializing in grilled meat and seafood plates, rice, dumplings and other Korean favorites.

21. Uncle G’s Pizza | Hoover

Hoover welcomed Uncle G’s Pizza, renowned for its beloved food truck as it opened its inaugural pizza joint. You can find it at the former Cicis Pizza space in Riverchase Plaza near Planet Fitness and Hobby Lobby.

22. Prime Champagne Bar | Lakeview

Discover your new favorite spot for mimosas, cocktails and fine wines at Prime Champagne Bar in Birmingham’s Lakeview District on 4th Avenue South.

23. Cookie Fix | Greystone

Get ready to enjoy a sweat treat on the go! A new Cookie Fix location is open on Highway 280.

24. Plenty of Vino | Downtown

Plenty of Vino, a unique fusion of wine, plants and event hosting, is open in downtown Birmingham on 2nd Avenue North.

25. Culinary Dropout | The Summit

Culinary Dropout, the highly-anticipated restaurant developed by James Beard-nominated restaurateur Sam Fox, is now open at The Summit.

In addition to the great food, the bar is equipped with TVs and a substantial selection of “Dropout” cocktails and draft beers.

26. Frothy Monkey | Homewood

Frothy Monkey, an all-day cafe, opened its second location in the Birmingham metro area this April. The new establishment is in the heart of Edgewood.

27. Slice Pizza & Brew | Homewood
