Located at 801 Green Springs Highway in Homewood, Mexi King’s Grill is a new establishment founded by two longtime friends who wanted to start a restaurant of their own.

“I wanted to go with an American theme, while my business partner wanted to go with a Mexican theme. We decided to meet in the middle and do half-American and half-Mexican. We’ve got burgers and wings as well as tacos, enchaladas, burritos and so much more.”

According to Felix, some of the most popular items on the menu are:

• Steak Sandwich — Marinated steak, grilled onions and pepper, mozzarella and chipotle sauce served in a French baguette
• Famous Fish Tacos — Three fried fish tacos served with a side, with crunchy slaw, mango Pico de Gallo and chipotle sauce in a flour tortilla
• Pollo Loco — Rice, grilled chicken and cheese dip

When it comes to drinks, Mexi King’s Grill prides itself on making sip-worthy American- and Mexican-style cocktails.

“We have a lot of local beer from Cahaba and Good People as well as Mexican beers like Pacífico. For cocktails, we have Old Fashioneds, Mojitos, Micheladas, Palomas and many more—plus, all of our drinks are $1 off during Happy Hour.”
