It’s a new week in The Magic City, and that means a new roundup of businesses popping up across town.

From a new late-night dining spot coming to Five Points South to a healthy grab-and-go market in Vestavia Hills, here are five new businesses that should be on your radar—plus, a few businesses closing their doors.

Now Open

1. The Kitchen by Market | Vestavia Hills

A popular shop that offers delicious healthy prepared meals has opened in Vestavia Hills.

Opened on June 27, The Kitchen by Market is an on-the-go grocery concept located on Montgomery Highway adjacent to the Picklr, the new indoor pickleball hub. The new shop is the second gourmet grocery shop by Market Mountain Brook, the original location that opened in Mountain Brook Village in early 2025.

2. Together Healthy | Highway 280

A new health and community hub has officially arrived in Greystone. Located on Highway 280 next to Chuck’s Fish, Together Healthy is now serving loaded teas, protein shakes and other healthy treats.

3. Karma’s Kitchen | Five Points South

Five Points South is getting a new around-the-clock dining option this month! Karma’s Kitchen—a new 24/7 diner from the team behind Dave’s Pub—is gearing up to begin offering breakfast staples, burgers and comfort food at approachable prices.

After the closure of beloved late-night spot Marty’s PM in 2024, Dave’s Pub owner Dan Williams began looking for the right place to open a new 24/7 spot to fill the overnight void. When the former 5 Point Public House & Oyster Bar space hit the market, Williams knew it was the opportunity he was looking for.

The restaurant will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week; during the daytime and evening hours, Karma’s Kitchen will focus on families, students and non-drinkers looking for a casual hangout spot in Five Points South. After midnight, the diner will shift into a late-night concept designed to serve people leaving nearby bars and music venues.

4. Pop Donuts | Trussville

Trussville is getting a sweet new addition. Local favorite Pop Donuts announced on Friday, June 27 that it’s expanding to a new location the across from Lowe’s off Gadsden Highway. The shop is expected to open in late 2026.

Top sellers include kolaches, donut holes and apply fritters, but you’ll find plenty of classic flavors like glazed, chocolate and strawberry iced donuts.

The expansion comes at a great time for Trussville. With Hero Donuts recently closing, local donut options are limited, leaving only nearby chains like Dunkin’ on Gadsden Highway and Krispy Kreme donuts sold inside Target.

5. Unbothered Scoops | 5 Points West

The popular Bessemer-born sweet spot, Unbothered Scoops, now has an opening timeline for its second location in Birmingham’s 5 Points West neighborhood.

The ice cream spot’s current location is in Bessemer at 2231 19th St. N., and the new, additional location will open at the Birmingham CrossPlex, between Chase Bank and Starbucks. True to the brand’s signature focus on providing an stress-free environment, the team promises a welcoming atmosphere alongside top-tier customer service.

Ownership confirmed that the shop is tentatively scheduled to open the weekend of Friday, July 17.
