If visiting new parts of the country is one of your goals for America’s 250th year, the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) just made it easier. Over Fourth of July weekend, Breeze Airways launched its first-ever nonstop flights from Birmingham, with new services to Fort Lauderdale, FL and Raleigh-Durham, NC starting at $59 one way.

Breeze Airways—the high-value, low-cost airline known for providing nonstop service between underserved routes across the country—recently launched its first-ever nonstop flights out of Birmingham.

Breeze Airways’ new service officially began on Thursday, July 3rd and is now available on Mondays and Fridays, with introductory fares starting at $59 one way:

“We are launching in Birmingham with two destinations that we know the community will love. With our high-value, low-cost model, these two destinations will allow travelers in Birmingham to more easily and affordably travel to Raleigh and Fort Lauderdale.”

The new flights are a welcome addition to BHM’s roster, which recently lost nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale, Newark and Detroit through low-cost airline Spirit Airlines following Spirit’s second bankruptcy filing in 2025.

“We are thrilled to welcome Breeze Airways to Birmingham. The addition of Breeze with its low fares to new markets is a welcome choice for travelers who appreciate nonstop flights and the opportunity to save some money when booking their trips.

We are thankful that Breeze has so much confidence in this market. If travelers respond well to the new service, there’s a good chance we’ll see additional Breeze flights in the future.”

Ashby Pate, Board Chair of the Birmingham Airport Authority
