Check out Homewood’s newest restaurant serving up authentic Chinese cuisine, Foo Hai Handmade Noodles + Dumplings. (Nathan Watson / Bham Now)

Handmade dumplings, noodles and Szechuan cuisine are all on the menu at Homewood’s newest restaurant.

Back in March, we gave you the scoop about a sister location to Atlanta-based Urban Hai opening in Birmingham.

Foo Hai Handmade Noodles & Dumplings is now open, serving authentic Chinese dishes from the corner of 29th Avenue South and 19th Street South in Homewood.

Enjoy Foo Hai’s authentic Szechuan menu + chef specials

Foo Hai Handmade Noodles and Dumplings is a new concept from the founders of Urban Hai in Midtown Atlanta, Chef Hai Wang and Gary Lin.

Foo Hai’s menu features authentic Szechuan dishes similar to those at its sister location in Atlanta but also offers some chef’s specials you won’t find on Urban Hai’s menu.

Some menu items we can’t wait to try:

  • Scallion pancakes
  • Sweet + sour pork ribs
  • Sichuan dandan beef
  • Braised chicken hot pot
  • Brown sugar rice cakes
  • + lots more

Chef Wang and Lin opened Urban Hai in 2022. They announced their intention to expand to Birmingham back in 2024, but official plans for Foo Hai’s opening in Homewood were not announced until March 2026.
