1. Focaccia grilled cheese from Freddy’s Wine Bar

“After a glass of wine out on the patio, my friends and I started to get a lil’ hungry. When we asked our (amazing) waitress, she recommended this—saying that she eats this on almost every shift. After taking a bite, we were sold. The homemade focaccia bread and the beautiful blends of cheese and garlic aioli were magnificent. I would come here just for the grilled cheese.”

2. Tom yum soup + fried tofu from Taste of Thailand

“I looove both the tom yum soup and fried tofu from Taste of Thailand. It’s my go-to meal. The soup is filled with fresh vegetables and has a citrusy, semi-hot soup base with lots of lemongrass. It kind of reminds me of hot and sour soup, but a lighter, veg-heavy version. The fried tofu is sliced into large cubes and served with a tangy, sweet peanut sauce. It’s one of my favorite meals regardless of the season!”

3. Chorizo pasta from Rojo

If you ask anyone on our team, Rojo is one of the best restaurants in Birmingham. (Pat Byington / Bham Now)

“The meal is so large, I thought I would eat half of it for lunch and save the rest for leftovers. That didn’t happen. I ate every tasty morsel. I particularly liked how the chorizo is blended in with the pasta. I highly recommend this item for lunch or dinner!”

You know it’s one of the best restaurants in Birmingham when two people say it’s their favorite. (Sharron Swain / Bham Now)

“When our team went out for lunch at Iron City Grill, I ordered the tacos with grilled chicken. The whole dish was a colorful and perfectly balanced flavor festival with plenty of textures to keep it interesting. I loved everything about it, from the cilantro vinaigrette-tossed slaw to the cotija. 10/10 recommend.”

“I did a photoshoot of some of their menu items for a content piece a while back, so I came into this knowing what I was getting into. Iron City Grill is my go-to for trying new foods for sure. My favorite meal so far—I highly recommend.”

6. Cookies & Cream ice cream from Bendy’s Cookies & Cream

“I went to the grand opening of Bendy’s Cookies & Cream in Trussville. It was the first time trying what this local ice cream shop has to offer. For my first taste test, I went with the Cookies & Cream. My thoughts? Delicious!”

Patience Itson, Content Producer

7. Chargrilled eggplant hummus from Tasty Town

“I’ve been hearing the hype about Tasty Town since they opened, and after trying it for the first time, I can confirm it’s well worth it. A few of my coworkers recommended the chargrilled eggplant hummus, and now that I’ve tasted it, I know I’ll be craving it at least once a week for the rest of my life. It’s the silkiest hummus I’ve ever had, and the pita was perfectly spongy and chewy. I’m getting hungry all over again thinking about it!”

8. Chilton County peaches from Burnette Farms at The Market at Pepper Place
