Cold weather is the perfect time to grab Thai food—nothing’s more comforting than a bowl of pad thai or filling wontons, right? If you’re craving Thai food as much as I am, here are 13 Birmingham Thai restaurants + their recommended dishes.

1. Blue Pacific at Hoover Food Mart

Blink and you’ll miss it: Blue Pacific is located at Hoover Food Mart on Lorna Road and serves amazing Thai food. When I picked up my dumplings and pad kee mao for lunch, I asked the cashier for his recommendations.

His answer? Pad thai. Someone else in line vouched for it—this was his second day in a row ordering the dish.

2. Taste of Thailand

If your ideal meal involves trying a little bit of everything, you’ll love the variety on Taste of Thailand’s menu. Try out the chicken satay or the vegetable curry with pineapple, or order multiple dishes so you have leftovers all week.

3. Masaman Thai Kitchen

Masaman Thai Kitchen is a Birmingham staple whether you want Thai chicken soup or spicy beef salad. I’m personally eyeing the panang curry for my next meal.

Surin 280 is one of my favorite spots to grab a bite to eat, and now they’re a perfect place to order takeout for a delicious meal at home. This is a classic Birmingham Thai restaurant with dishes you’ll absolutely love.

  • Recommended dish: Chicken Noodle Bowl is a Surin 280 all time favorite dish, but other popular options include Thai Noodle and Spicy Beef Salad

If you and your loved ones can’t decide between amazing Thai dishes and delicious sushi, head to Shiki Homewood Thai and Sushi for the best of both worlds. I recently ordered their Thai ramen and it was the perfect choice for these chilly days.

We’ve got a lot to look forward to in 2021, but one of the things I’m most excited about is all the new restaurants coming to Birmingham. I loved visiting Babalu in Lakeview, but I’m excited to check out UMAMI, a new restaurant from the owners of Nori Thai and Shiki. This sounds like a dream duo and I can’t wait for it to open.
