1. BREAKING: New restaurant + bar coming to previous Little Donkey location in Homewood
For those who loved the convenience of the previous Little Donkey location in Homewood, we’ve got great news. Local entrepreneur, Ben Chappell, is opening The Battery, a Southern kitchen and bar that’s mixing the best elements of fine dining and fast-casual. The new spot is slated to open this spring. PS: Little Donkey is still open, they just moved locations!
2. A behind-the-scenes look at Ghost Train Brewing Company’s new location + concert venue
Who doesn’t love a good sneak peek? After much anticipation, the new Ghost Train Brewing location in M2’s development space is now open! The new space features over 90 taps, a cocktail bar, an event space, a concert venue and more. Plus, with sunny weather coming soon, the new Hugh Kaul Trail will be open, where guests can enjoy a nice beer with friends outdoors.
According to the Ghost Train Facebook page, the 3rd Ave location is still open.
3. BREAKING: The World Games 2022 names Bham Now as Official Media Partner
As if The World Games 2022 coming to town couldn’t get more exciting, this past week Bham Now was named the official media partner of The World Games 2022. That’s right, we’re going behind-the-scenes to share everything The Games has to offer, including exclusive interviews and coverage. Plus, we’ll be publishing tons of guides to help you enjoy Birmingham to the fullest.
4. Landing unveils new sign in Birmingham skyline [Photos]
Gone are the days where we had 2 Shipt signs in our skyline. Introducing: Landing. Landing is an industry-first, subscription-based flexible living service founded by Bill Smith—who also founded Shipt. The sign is atop the John Hand building, where Landing is headquartered. Their move from San Fransico to Bham has provided over 800+ jobs to the city, and put a spotlight on our growing tech industry.
5. 8 new Birmingham businesses coming soon, including Hi-Wire Brewing
Lucky us. Eight new businesses are coming soon to Downtown, Trussville, Hoover and more. Here are some highlights:
- Lady E’s Chick’n Cafe: A new cafe Downtown featuring Southern menu items like hot lemon pepper wings, pasta salad and more.
- City Bowls: After their former Hoover location closed in 2021, City Bowls is back with their delicious smoothie bowls.
- Hi-Wire Brewing: Asheville-based brewing company Hi-Wire is coming soon to Lakeview.

Before you freak out, Cafe Dupont is not closing its doors. Chef Chris Dupont is still in Birmingham at the moment, but will soon be moving to Louisiana for a new restaraunt venture in New Oreleans. We can’t wait to see what wonderful things are in store for Cafe Dupont and Chef Dupont’s endeavors in the future.
