7 new + coming soon businesses in Birmingham

It’s a new week in The Magic City, and that means a new roundup of businesses popping up across town.
From a new coffee shop making waves in Pratt City to an exciting new Avondale bar opening this week, here are seven businesses that should be on your radar.

1. Two Sistah’s Coffee | Pratt City
A coffee shop has opened in the Carline Historic District in Birmingham’s Pratt City neighborhood.
Owned by Pratt City native Joshua Perdue, the new spot is called Two Sistahs, in honor of his great grandmother and great aunt who introduced him to coffee and inspired him to create a space that brings people together.
The menu features a range of drink options that include espresso, coffee, lemonade, smoothies and teas.

2. Scoop City | The Edge
Scoop City is officially open at The Edge in Homewood! The new ice cream shop has opened its doors, bringing a massive menu of cold treats to the Green Springs Highway outdoor food hall.
Owned by Chef Nick Carpenter of Tuff Love Hospitality—the team behind other local favorites like The Que*Bicle at The Edge and Porky’s Pride Smokehouse— Scoop City fills the space left by the closure of Ice C’s. The new spot features an extensive selection of classic scoops, shakes, sundaes, floats and banana splits.

3. Einstein Bros Bagels | Trussville
The Greater Birmingham area has another spot to grab a fresh bagel. Einstein Bros. Bagels recently opened a new Trussville location off Gadsden Highway, marking one of three new stores that have opened in 2026 so far, including two others on Highway 280 and Montgomery Highway.

4. Ace Hardware | Moody
A new Ace Hardware store has opened in Moody, Alabama.
Owned by Southeast Ace Hardware, the much-anticipated store quietly set up shop at 1005 Crossroads Plaza Drive in June. What makes this location stand out alongside all the hardware staples is the addition of outdoor apparel, gifts and day to day items like Tyler Candles and detergent.

5. Lucky Stranger | Avondale
Located at 4036 5th Ave S, Lucky Stranger is a new neighborhood bar that’s set to start serving the Avondale community later this week.
Over the past four months, owners Ali Randall, José de Jesus Medina Camacho, Kelsey Drum and Nan Wagner—the “Strangers,” as they call themselves—have been hard at work transforming the former Parkside on Fifth space into the welcoming, no-frills bar concept they first envisioned half a year ago.
Backed by the minds behind several of Birmingham’s favorite bar and restaurant concepts—including Juniper, Salud Taqueria and Adiõs—Lucky Stranger is a casual, come-as-you-are-style bar where guests can sit back, relax and make new memories with old friends—and new friends, too.

6. Reformation | The Summit
The Summit’s retail lineup is continuing to grow with the addition of women’s fashion retailer Reformation, which is expected to open this fall. Reformation is known for its elevated, trendy women’s clothing and sustainable mission, creating garments from recycled fabrics and prioritizing natural fibers.
The upcoming location at The Summit will be the brand’s first in Alabama, with nearby locations in Atlanta and Nashville. The store will be located between Free People and Madewell in the upper level of the mall.

7. Waldo’s Chicken & Beer | Valley Post
Popular chicken joint Waldo’s Chicken & Beer plans to open a restaurant at the Valley Post development off Highway 280 in Chelsea.
In April 2026, all four Valley Post restaurants owned by the Pihakis Restaurant Group (PRG) were shuttered as a result of the group’s financial woes.
Located at 1012 Dunnavant Valley Road, Valley Post was home to Little Donkey, Luca, Hero Diner, and Rodney Scott’s BBQ but all four shut down after just five months. The new Waldo’s at Valley Post, which is expected to open fall 2026, will be the fourth in the Birmingham-metro location.
