It’s a new week in The Magic City, and that means a new roundup of businesses popping up across town. 

From a new shop with a big mission in Springville to some fun new boutiques coming to The Summit, here are eight new businesses that should be on your radar—plus, one local business closing its doors.

Now Open

1. Made a la Mode | The Summit

Wedding guests, vacationers and party attendees, take note: Birmingham-based dress shop Made a la Mode is opening its first-ever physical storefront with a three-month pop-up at The Summit.

After hosting pop-up events around the Birmingham area, the beloved local brand will officially open a dedicated space next to J.Jill and Rowan, where shoppers can browse seven days a week through October. The celebration began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, July 11, giving guests the first chance to shop the boutique’s inaugural collection.

2. ShopWell | Springville

The Wellhouse—a faith-based nonprofit that provides safe housing and more to survivors of human trafficking—just opened the ShopWell Store, a new establishment designed to help survivors gain skills, earn income and move toward sustainable independence.

Located in Springville, the ShopWell Store features a coffee shop, candle-making studio, curated pre-loved clothing and more.

3. Redemption by Straight Mountain Foods | Trussville

Redemption by Straight Mountain Foods opened this week off Highway 11 in Trussville. 

In March 2026, Straight Mountain Foods, a popular food truck and catering business, announced it will launch its new restaurant at 8885 Gadsden Highway. Now, it’s finally open and serving food truck favorites like burgers, wings, brisket and sides like loaded potato salad and smoked mac and cheese in addition to some “Southern comfort creative chaos.”

4. Busy Brush | Vestavia Hills

Busy Brush Studio, a paint-your-own-pottery shop, officially opened its doors on Saturday, June 13, bringing a new creative and family-friendly space to the Vestavia Hills community.

Founded by local mom of two Tori Dill, the studio is designed to be a welcoming environment where community members can slow down, connect and create. Dill owns the shop alongside her mother-in-law, Linda Dill, and Katy Helms.

5. Urban Planet | Riverchase Galleria

Alabama’s first Urban Planet store has opened at the Riverchase Galleria in Hoover. Urban Planet by Charlotte Russe is a trendy affordable clothing store, located in the former Forever 21 spot near Inspiration Co. and Victoria’s Secret on the first level of the state’s largest shopping mall.

6. Big Savings Home Goods | Crestwood

Looking for a new dining room table without the big-box price tag? A new liquidation store just landed off Crestwood Boulevard in Birmingham.

Big Savings Home Goods, a locally owned liquidation store, has opened at Crestwood Festival Center. Located next to the Dollar General, you’ll find hundreds of deeply discounted household items, from sofas to workout gear, all under one roof.

7. The Well & Co. | Vestavia Hills

A new space for coffee, home decor and community is coming soon to Vestavia Hills! The Well & Co. officially opens its doors on July 18, offering locals a brand-new spot to gather, shop and relax.

The new storefront sits right next door to Busy Brush, the paint-your-own-pottery studio that opened its doors recently in the same complex and under the same ownership.

The storefront combines several elements into one cohesive experience, featuring curated home decor, coffee bar and space for small gatherings and meetings.

8. Boden | The Summit

A popular British clothing brand is making its way to Birmingham. Boden, known for its bright colors, bold prints and classic cuts, will open a brick-and-mortar location at The Summit later this year.

The announcement came via social media from The Summit, teasing the arrival of the brand’s signature pink and green stripes. The Birmingham storefront marks a significant milestone for the international retailer. It will be only the third brick-and-mortar Boden location to open in the United States.

9. Andy’s Garden Center | Hoover

Andy’s Farm Market and Garden Center has permanently closed its Hoover location after 15 years in business. 

The local nursery shared the news with the community on Facebook, expressing deep gratitude to the customers who became part of their story over the last decade and a half.

“Thank you for allowing us to be part of the Hoover community. We hope you’ll continue making Andy’s Garden Center your destination for gardening, fresh produce, and family fun. We can’t wait to welcome you to Vestavia Hills!”
