There are always openings of the newest hot spots happening in Birmingham. To get excited for the new year, we’ve rounded up sixteen new restaurants, coffee shops and more opening in 2023.

1. MELT Lane Parke

MELT’s Avondale location is closing, but the cheesy goodness isn’t going anywhere. MELT plans to open its new location in Lane Parke during the first week of January.

2. Social Taco

The long-awaited Social Taco is coming very soon. Sister restaurant to Soho Social and Soho Standard, we know this Homewood spot is going to be good.

3. Fairway Social

Atlanta-based entertainment concept Fairway Social is coming to Birmingham. Enjoy virtual sports games, a full-service restaurant and a full bar. 

4. The Frenchie

Talented chef and culinary expert Tyler Lyne is bringing his skills to The Magic City with the opening of The Frenchie. Stay tuned for more info.

5. Scooter’s Coffee

Scooter’s is opening its first drive-through coffee shop in the Birmingham area. Known for its coffee—which you can order hot, blended or iced—the coffee shop also offers smoothies, teas and breakfast food options.

6. The Farmer’s Market at Brock’s Gap

The Hoover area is getting its own fresh farmer’s market in 2023 with an abundance. of local farmers and artisans.

7. Taco Mac

Taco Mac is sure to be a hot spot for some of the best tacos mixed with American classics, like burgers and an even better lineup of craft beers on tap.

8. Otey’s Tavern Homewood

This Mountain Brook classic is coming to Homewood! I can’t wait to be able to eat my favorite chicken tenders and cheese fries at a second location.

9. The Rougaroux

The Rougaroux will be serving up mouthwatering po’boys, gumbo and bringing their New Orleans fare to Mountain Brook in 2023.

10. Frothy Monkey Homewood

How did Bham get lucky enough for another Frothy Monkey? I will be first in line to order their French toast and a latte.

11. Culinary Dropout

This year, Birmingham will welcome Alabama’s first-ever Culinary Dropout to The Summit, featuring incredible food, cocktails and local bands.

12. Honest Coffee Roasters

This Huntsville favorite coffee shop is opening in The Pizitz. I can already see it—lunch at Ashley Mac’s, dessert from Birmingham Candy Company and a coffee from Honest Coffee Roasters.

13. Bitty & Beau’s

Coffee lovers, it looks like 2023 is going to be a good year. Bitty & Beau’s, a nationwide popular coffee shop that supports and employs people with disabilities, is opening in Birmingham this year.

The iconic Velma’s is returning to Trussville—new and improved restaurant but staying true to its original design with just a few modern touches.

15. Corbeau Wine Bar

Trussville, get ready—later this fall, the doors to Corbeau, a new wine bar taproom, will open, and happy hour will never be the same.

16. Craft’s Chicken

Started by the O’Neal family, Craft’s has been a staple in Crestline Village. The second location will be across from The Waites in Southside on Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd.
