NEW: Alabama’s 1st Culinary Dropout is coming to The Summit

In late 2023, Birmingham will welcome Alabama’s first-ever Culinary Dropout to The Summit. The brainchild of James Beard-nominated restaurateur Sam Fox, it will feature deelish food, cocktails, local bands and genuine hospitality.

  • What: Culinary Dropout, sister to North Italia, will be a place you can “eat, drink + rock.”
  • Who: Sam Fox is a recipient of the Hot Concept awards by Nation’s Restaurant News + a James Beard nominee who founded Fox Restaurant Concepts in 1998, which has since introduced over a dozen restaurant brands with:
    • Nearly 5,000 team members in
    • Over 60 locations across the US
  • Where: 214 Summit Blvd, Birmingham, AL 35243, next to Talbot’s and across from P.F. Chang’s
  • Opening: late 2023

You’ll find classic meals with attitude on the menu.

  • House-made pretzels with Provolone fondue
  • Honey-drizzled fried chicken

Crowd faves: 

  • 36-Hour Slow Roasted Pork Ribs basted in jalapeño BBQ sauce
  • Hot wings drenched in a tangy sweet buffalo sauce

The cocktails 

Cocktails are a big part of the experience, featuring:

  • House made syrups
  • Infused liquor
  • Fresh-squeezed juices
  • Extra love

House faves:

  • El Matador made with añejo tequila, elderflower liqueur, ginger agave, and a dash of orange bitters 
  • Room Service, shaken and served up with American gin, zesty lemon, sweet strawberry and topped with crisp, bubbly wine
