Cheers to LeNell’s Beverage Boutique

After making a splash in New York City’s spirits and liquor scene at her liquor shop in Brooklyn, Alabama native LeNell Camacho Santa Ana decided to come back home. Located in the historic Norwood neighborhood, she opened LeNell’s Beverage Boutique in 2018. With her all-star liquor knowledge, it’s only fitting her shop made the list of the best spirits stores in the country.

To compile the list, Wine Enthusiast Magazine talked to bartenders, beverage directors, booze pros, distillers and writers to discover their favorite places.

What makes this spot award-worthy? LeNell’s is filled with hard-to-find liqueurs and wine selections made by women and POC winemakers. Plus, it’s more than a spirits shop—LeNell’s is a community hub with yoga classes and other gatherings.

The good news doesn’t stop there. Recently, Hop City Craft Beer & Wine was named among the best beer shops in the country by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. With thousands of varieties of beer and wines and beer on draft, this spot has something for everyone.

“To be named in Wine Enthusiast is a big honor. People may not realize it, but Hop City has been in Birmingham for ten years. We have 1,500 selections of beer and 1,500 selections of wine, ranging from very affordable to some that are a little more fancy. No matter what you’re coming here for, we try our best to make sure you learn something new about a particular wine or beer you’re picking up.”
