Work in the Center of the Action

We all know downtown Birmingham loves a mixed-use development. From lofts with the coolest name to one of the best food halls in the nation, you never know what you’re going to find in one of these historic living + working + eating + shopping spaces.

Managed by Arlington Properties and developed by Third & Urban, the Denham Building is a mixed-use facility for the modern era. The 59 residential apartments are currently 90% leased, bringing a vibrant energy to the dynamic building.

The Denham Building is also home to 80,000 square feet of office and retail space—which is starting to fill up. Keep reading to get a closer look at who’s moving in.

BONUS: Think you want to work in the center of the action? You’re in luck—the Denham Building is leasing office space now.

Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator

When it comes to being an entrepreneur in tech, there are a few things you need: a brilliant idea, a plan to bring it to life and a great mentor to help make it all happen!

Techstars is a 13-week mentorship-driven accelerator that focuses on helping startups develop innovative solutions to all kinds of problems they may face.

These key partners help support the program as well as increase access participants have to local resources:

According to Nate Schmidt, managing director of Techstars, the Denham Building’s location and collaborative atmosphere is crucial in helping his tech program thrive.

“The Denham Building is the perfect spot for our city’s next great companies to emerge,” said Schmidt. “I envision mentors visiting the space to collaborate with founders before dropping by Monday Night Brewing to enjoy a locally brewed beer.

Plus, most of our out of town teams will likely live nearby or at Denham. I don’t think Alabama Power could have picked a better place for this program.”

Applications for the 2020 program are open now, and here are the important dates:

  • Deadline to Apply: April 5
  • Program Starts: July 13
  • Demo Day: October 7

Rintro

The first commercial tenant in the Denham Building is a new tech startup launching from Birmingham. Rintro is a new mobile app that will facilitate short-term rentals of outdoor recreational and utility equipment.

Say you want to get into new outdoor activites like camping, kayaking, mountain biking, climbing, etc. Skip the stage where you spend all that money on equipment you may or may not use again.

You can simply rent whatever you need through the Rintro app and get outside! If you’re someone who owns a bunch of equipment that you’re not using all the time, you can rent it out and be covered by Rintro’s damage protection program.
