Maybe you have noticed that Octane in Homewood on Central Avenue isn’t…well…isn’t Octane any more. Southern coffee powerhouse, Revelator, owner of Octane, made some changes and  opened an intimate, personal restaurant called Sweet Jon’s Café.

Whole Foods grand opening draws crowds in Hoover

Did you notice the long lines, sometimes 400 people deep, Wednesday morning in Hoover? The Whole Foods grand opening in the former Riverchase Village brought out huge crowds. Hoover has eagerly awaited the opening of the organic-grocery giant for almost 3 years.

Urban Standard re-opens: Smiles and hugs everywhere – a community comeback story (photos)

Urban Standard re-opened today after a fire caused its closure on January 5, 2017.

All morning long there has been smiles and hugs between employees and long time customers, as Urban Standard, the popular downtown coffeehouse and cafe on 2nd Avenue North, opened its doors for the first time since a January fire forced the business to temporarily close.

Donating tips this Wednesday: Crestwood Coffee steps up to help Urban Standard

Crestwood Coffee Company/Cafe is stepping forward to help Urban Standard staff recover after the downtown coffeehouse closed for repairs  earlier this month because of a fire.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, January 25th, from 6:30am to 2:00pm, Crestwood Coffee Company/Cafe will be donating all tips to Urban Standard staff. Along with the tips given by patrons, Crestwood Coffee will also match the donated tips.
