Homewood continues to thrive! This popular area just south of Birmingham proper has been expanding for a while now, and it looks like they’re not slowing down anytime soon.

2020 is Looking Bright for Homewood

2019 was a big year for Homewood. A ton of new businesses and restaurants popped up throughout the area and met great success. It looks like other local companies are catching on to the trend.

Check out five of the most exciting recent announcements of businesses that are expanding to or opening in Homewood this year!

1. Neighborhood Nutrition

Neighborhood Nutrition is the newest expansion project of Magic City Nutrition located in the Battery. This energizing beverage bar makes eating healthy easy and fun—not to mention delicious.

You can get clean energy teas in flavors like peachy keen, lime skittle or pink starburst. Plus, don’t forget your meal replacement shake—even indulgent flavors like wedding cake, peanut butter brownie and blueberry muffin ring in at just 200 calories and 9 grams of sugar.

2. SoHo Standard

SoHo Social is a Homewood favorite that’s been around for close to three years now. Their newest development, SoHo Standard, is getting close to opening its doors.

Owners Dave Horn and Taylor Hughes describe SoHo Standard as the expansion of their original project with a simple, more upscale menu selection and a refined yet relaxed atmosphere.

SoHo Standard will host a full bar with premium liquors, including a large selection of scotch and bourbon as well as refined cocktails with house-made ingredients. They’ll also place a high focus on wine and offer a small beer selection with both local and imported brews.

3. Hero Doughnuts

Anyone who’s ever spent time in Homewood will probably tell you about this local favorite. Now, Hero Doughnuts is no stranger to the area, however, they’re growing!

They recently leased the space next door, expanding their shop and almost doubling their square footage. More room for doughnuts? Sounds like a win to us.

Hero Doughnuts boasts a menu of fresh, seasonally flavored brioche doughnuts, delicious hamburgers on brioche buns as well as house-made frozen custard. Um… Yum.

4. The Eastbury Condos

5. Homewood Bagel Company

Homewood Bagel Company (HBC) picked up loyal fans after years of selling their bagels in various pop-up shops. Last month, HBC finally opened their first permanent storefront in Homewood!

Since the opening, Homewood Bagel Company has sold out nearly every day. They serve bagels in-store or through delivery, as well as offering curbside pickup.
