From eating healthier to opportunities for getting active, studies have shown that these combative measures will protect you from obesity, as well as some chronic diseases such as stroke and diabetes. That is why the UAB Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Center has partnered with Birmingham REACH for Better Health and successfully introduced a Parks Prescription program right here in our city.

Knowing that 13% of our Birmingham community is uninsured and underserved, Hamrick decided to take a stand. She is going to make a difference. This October, she will be running a 157-mile self-supported ultramarathon in the Amazonian Rainforest of Brazil, one of the world’s top ten most difficult races.

I bet you thought, “I wanna do that!” Well, GoKickball is the place for you. This premier kickball organization hosts kickball seasons in our city during the Fall, Spring, and Summer.
