Uptown is upgrading to EV charging stations
With electric vehicles becoming more and more popular, Birmingham is working towards accommodating the environmentally friendly move. There have been sightings across the city for charging stations for these vehicles that are much needed. For example, you may have seen some EV charging stations in Five Points behind Jimmy John’s. Now, Uptown is joining the club!
Uptown is now the proud owner of eight Tesla charging stations. They are located in the parking lot behind Mugshots and Your Pie restaurants, on 23rd Street North. This convenient and ideal location was based on the four nearby interstates. The next closest Tesla Charging station is at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook.

The charging station is free for Tesla owners to use 24 hours a day.
The installation was based on an agreement between Tesla Motors and the BJCC alongside support from Alabama Power.
“Alabama Power has supported the expansion of emission-free electric vehicles for many years, where it makes sense for our customers… It also gives electric car owners the opportunity to enjoy food and drinks at one of Uptown’s seven restaurants while their vehicle gets recharged.”
– BJCC Executive Director Tad Snider
Now EV owners can choose between six restaurants and a coffee/bar while they charge up their vehicles. Here’s to Uptown for helping to create a more EV-friendly city.
