The 2021 Birmingham World Games announces three huge sponsors at 1,000 day countdown celebration

Birmingham locals and influencers celebrated the 1,000 day-countdown until the World Games 2021 in Birmingham on Friday, October 19, where they announced the three main sponsors for this event. Alabama Power, Protective Life and Regions Bank pledged to sponsor the games, which are set for July 15-25, 2021.

The Iron City Showdown coming to the BJCC this Tuesday, October 2

Attention all NBA fans! Being a professional basketball supporter in Birmingham can be a struggle. Especially since there’s no local team to support. Many of us have never even been to an NBA game. Well, thanks to the BBVA Compass Iron City Showdown, that could change pretty soon.

The Iron City Showdown is an NBA exhibition game that will take place at the BJCC’s Legacy Arena this Tuesday, October 2, at 7pm. The Houston Rockets will face the Memphis Grizzlies in Birmingham’s first professional basketball game in 12 years.

¡A reason to fiesta! El ZunZun opens in Cahaba Heights

El ZunZun is a nickname for a Cuban species of hummingbird.

Nestled in the middle of Cahaba Heights, Becky Satterfield (owner of the equally yummy Satterfield’s Restaurant) opened El ZunZun to “create a place as inviting as the kitchens of the abuela’s (grandmother’s) we’ve learned from,” and despite being a brand spankin’ new building, the fun colors and vibrant atmosphere paints the picture of an upscale, yet somehow cozy dining experience.
