It’s a beautiful day in Birmingham, and we’re excited for some awesome new openings. Ready to dive in? Take a look at all the fun details below.

1. Half Shell Oyster House | Cullman

Half Shell Oyster House—with existing locations in Mobile, Pelham, Spanish Fort, Trussville and Tuscaloosa—is expanding its presence to downtown Cullman, Alabama, as reported by The Cullman Daily. Established in 2008, the restaurant is dedicated to serving authentic New Orleans-inspired cuisine with Southern hospitality, all inside a vibrant French Quarter atmosphere. The menu features a variety of dishes, including oysters, seafood, po-boys and more.

2. Food City | Gadsden

Need groceries? Food City Supermarket is now open in Gadsden stocked with all your shopping needs. Get your table ready with curbside pickup or home delivery.

3. Corbeau Wine Bar | Homewood

The Edge, an upcoming development in Homewood, revealed in a recent social media post that it is fully leased and set to open later this year. Among the new tenants is Corbeau Wine Bar, a family-owned establishment originating from Trussville. Known for its self-serve wine on tap, Corbeau Wine Bar has quickly become a popular local venue for dates, meetings and events.

4. Churro Station | The Summit

Satisfy your sweet tooth at The Summit’s newest dessert spot, Churro Station, now open in the former Steel City Pops space. In addition to classic cinnamon sugar churros, they also offer the “nachurro,” a savory churro filled with cheddar cheese.

5. Mi Tierra Linda Supermarket | Center Point

Center Point is anticipating the opening of Mi Tierra Linda, a specialized supermarket focusing on Central and South American cuisine later this year, as reported by The Trussville Tribune. Spanning almost 23,000 sq. ft. in the newly renovated Center Point Plaza, the store is set to offer a diverse range of ethnic foods.

6. The Craft Burger | 280 near Greystone

Exciting news for Birmingham’s burger enthusiasts! The Craft Burger, a local burger joint with the motto “An Honest Burger for an Honest Buck,” is expanding with a new location on Highway 280 near Greystone. Founded in 2017 by Barry O’Hare, the new spot will be taking over the space formerly occupied by Besitos Mexican Kitchen.

7. Herban Soul Café | Woodlawn

Herban Soul Café, known for its focus on healthy herbal tea, is gearing up to launch its inaugural brick-and-mortar establishment within the Woodlawn Marketplace on Saturday, February 10. Alexis, the owner, plans to provide a diverse range of wholesome food and beverage choices, featuring a dozen unique herbal tea blends along with sweet pastries.

8. Hyderabad House | Hoover

Get ready for a new Indian restaurant opening in March in The Magic City. Stay tuned for more opening details coming soon.

Closings

1. Civitas | English Village

Civitas, the popular fine dining establishment in the heart of Mountain Brook’s English Village, has closed after two years. The restaurant posted a sign on their front entrance:  “Unfortunately Civitas is permanently closed.” Along with the sign, their Instagram account has been deleted.

2. Sheppard’s Pet Supply | Avondale

Founded by Will Sheppard in October 2015, Sheppard’s Pet Supply is locally owned and operated pet supply store located in Avondale. After eight years in Birmingham, they’re closing their doors in March.
