Did you hear the news? Sidewalk Film + Cinema is an official satellite screen partner for the 2021 Sundance Film Festival. That means you can view all the incredible films being shown right here in Birmingham. Find out what’s playing.

ArtBLINK Gala

February 5 marks the 36th annual ArtBLINK Gala—and this year, it’s going virtual for the very first time. The online event will feature:

  • Virtual artist studio experiences throughout the week leading up to the event.
  • Special messages from O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center Director Dr. Barry Sleckman and honoree Mr. George Wheelock III, as well as our featured survivor, physicians, researchers, board members and artists.
  • Bidding on auction items will remain open all weekend.
  • Opportunity to win a one-on-one experience with a local artist.
  • Option to choose a special ArtBLINK dinner for two from Iz Catering to enjoy at home.

4. Wild About Chocolate Fundraiser for AL Wildlife Center

Alabama Wildlife Center’s (AWC) annual Wild About Chocolate Gala is changing things up this year with a virtual silent auction.

Your support helps AWC:

  • Care for Alabama’s injured and orphaned native birds in order to permit their return to the wild.
  • Provide conservation education to people of all ages to heighten awareness and appreciation of Alabama’s native wildlife resources.

When: February 8-12, 8AM-7PM

5. Galentine’s Brunch

Grab your besties and head to the Birmingham Zoo for its first-ever Galentine’s Day Balcony Brunch.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Pre-plated brunch entrée with specialty waffles, served by catering staff
  • Mimosas with a bottle of champagne at every table
  • Ambassador animal meet and greet

After brunch, continue the day venturing around the Zoo to see your favorite animals and take a ride on the Red Diamond Express Train (all included in event price).

February 26 marks the return of the American Advertising Awards—the American Advertising Federation’s award ceremony that celebrates the sharpest and most creative minds in advertising.

This year’s event will be virtual with hosts bringing you the live action from the Alys Stephens Center.
