My family and I checked out Local Source Market & Grocery in 5 Points South yesterday and we liked what we saw: loads of fresh, local Alabama produce, frozen grass-fed meats from Sylacauga and goods from Alabama makers all for sale in a warm and inviting space.

Local Source Market & Grocery is conveniently located in 5 Points South

You’ll find the shop at 2009 15th Ave S, in the same location as Near to Me CBD and around the corner from Zydeco. On-street parking was easy to find right in front of the shop. We even spotted a pirate in the storefront window next door.

Alabama-grown produce galore

I don’t know about you, but the pandemic sure has made me want to support our local farmers even more than before.

It was so comforting walking in and seeing produce and other offerings from local farm such as these:

We’ll definitely be stopping in regularly because tomato sandwiches are calling my name.

Local Source has beef, chicken and pork from Marble Creek Farmstead. If you know you’re cooking say, two pounds of chicken breasts at dinner, all you have to do is call in, tell them what you want, pay for it over the phone and they’ll thaw it out so it’s ready for you to pick up on the way home. Sweet, huh?

If you’ve been wanting to get some grass-fed and pasture-raised non-GMO-fed meats grown and processed just down the road, Local Source Market & Grocery has you covered.

You’ll also find goods from local producers

It was really fun finding foods like BDA Farms’ Raw Honey or Hamm Farm’s + Johnny’s Restaurant’s Pepper Sauce. In addition, they’ve got loads of other food offerings from these local producers:

Local Source is open seven days a week:

  • Wednesday-Saturday, 8AM-7PM

Over the coming months, look for an expansion in terms of offerings from local farmers and makers, as well as an outdoor street farmers market.

If you’re a local farmer or maker who’d like to see if Local Source Market & Grocery would like to carry your wares, give them a call at (205) 407-5125 and speak to whichever manager is on duty.
