About the Charity: Sugarbelle Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Birmingham, AL that is dedicated to keeping pets and people together by helping struggling families afford pet care. Our goal is to prevent families from having to make the difficult decision to surrender their pets to overcrowded and under-resourced animal shelters when there may be another solution or temporary relief available allowing them to stay together.

Shelby Humane’s Paws for the Cause 5k & 1 Mile Tail Waggin’ Trek

Held Saturday, April 4th – Paws for the Cause is a certified 5k off-road cross-country race through the beautiful Veterans Park in Hoover. The course takes you on a path through the park around the lake and through tree-lined trails surrounding the park. The 5k is dog-friendly (well-behaved dogs on leash).

NEW: The Tail Waggin’ Trek was a hit last year and return for 2020! The Tail Waggin’ Trek is a 1-mile “obstacle” course run for individuals or teams and fun for adults, kids & dogs! All obstacles are family-friendly and either silly fun animal-themed challenges suitable for all ages and those that can walk a mile.

5k begins at 8:30 am and 1 mile Tail Waggin’ Trek begins at 9:30 am.

Shelby Humane is the only open-admission animal shelter in Shelby County. We care for over 5,000 lost, homeless & unwanted pets each year. We rely on fundraisers such as Paws for the Cause to perform our life-saving mission.

What is “Wolfenoot”? Wolfenoot is when the Spirit of the Wolf brings and hides small gifts around the house for everyone. People who have, have had, or are kind to dogs get better gifts than anyone else. Wolfenoot is a night of Good People, Good Beer and Good Pups! A celebration of canines, kindness & humans who embrace both. No hate, only #snootboops. Bring your pup out for chance to win amazing prizes in our pet costume contest. (This event was rescheduled from Halloween due to weather). Or get ready for the holidays by dressing your pup in Christmas sweaters! Find your new family member from the adoptable pets from Shelby Humane that will be onsite. Free to attend! Donations accepted to Shelby Humane. Costume contest entry is $10 per pet. Register onsite by 6:30 pm, contest starts at 7:00 and awards at 7:30. Other fun games and activities for you & your pets! Plus, a portion of beer sales will be donated to Shelby Humane from Good People. Food available for purchase. Do Dah Day is Birmingham’s ultimate animal lover’s party

Nearly 40 years ago some animal-loving friends got together on Birmingham’s Southside and had a party.

From that fateful day, Do Dah Day was born. Now, four decades later, that neighborhood gathering has turned into one of the largest animal loving festivals in Birmingham and the entire state.
