It’s a new week in The Magic City, and that means a new roundup of businesses popping up across town.
From Jefferson County’s first winery in historic Bessemer to Yemeni cuisine in Hoover, here are six businesses that should be on your radar. Plus, one local business we’ll miss.

1. Chateau Bevvy Winery | Bessemer

Chateau Bevvy Winery, located in Bessemer, is bringing a new wine experience to the area as the first winery in Jefferson County.
We sat down with owner La Fran Marks to learn more about Chateau Bevvy’s wine offerings, what to expect and a little more about the history of the space in Downtown Bessemer.

2. Copper Star Coffee Co. | Hoover

Get excited, coffee lovers around Hoover—a new family-owned coffee shop opened its doors in July 2026 and the positive reviews are already rolling in.
Copper Star Coffee Co. is serving up coffee, paninis, Belgian liege waffles and more in the Chace Lake neighborhood of Hoover. The menu features handcrafted coffee, espresso, cold brew or smoothies, as well as made-to-order paninis.

3. Zad Mediterranean Cuisine | Hoover

Zad Mediterranean Cuisine, a Yemeni influenced restaurant that offers dishes ranging from kabobs to shawarma, opened recently in Hoover.
Zad’s website declares it offers “house-made Yemeni dishes few restaurants in the region even attempt,” including quail, lamb pies, maqaniq (a lamb sausage dish) and more.

4. Einstein Bros Bagels | Trussville

Bagel lovers in Birmingham just got another reason to celebrate—the fifth Einstein Bros. Bagels in the metro area is now open.
The new spot is located near the I-459 Trussville exit. Over the years, Birmingham residents have seen Einstein bagels sold at local Publix stores, but it had been a mystery why there were no standalone shops.

5. Cava | Alabaster

Cava will be the next opening coming out of the buzzy new Shoppes at District 31 development in Alabaster, according to a recent post on its social media.
The popular fast-casual Mediterranean spot in Alabaster will be the third in the Greater Birmingham Area, joining two prior locations in downtown Birmingham and Brook Highlands.

6. Painted Purple Turtle Craft Studio | Hoover

Let your creativity out of its shell at a new arts and crafts studio opening in Hoover this month. The Painted Purple Turtle welcomes makers through its doors at the River Oaks Village shopping center on Saturday, Aug. 29 for a grand opening.
At the opening, guests can enjoy complimentary snacks and refreshments, make-and-take projects while supplies last and a first look at some of the craft experiences that will be offered at The Painted Purple Turtle.

Closing
7. Kirkland’s Home | Trussville
Kirkland’s Home is closing its Trussville location, with everything marked down 50% starting Monday, August 17. Bham Now confirmed that the store at 5474 Patrick Way, Birmingham, AL 35235 will be open until all inventory is gone, or until its last day of business on September 8.
