Retail giant Staples closing Birmingham location in November

One of Birmingham metro’s busiest commercial corridors is losing another big retail establishment — the office supply giant Staples.

The Highway 280 Staples location (4614 US-280 East) is scheduled to close on November 17th — Bham Now confirmed.  

The store, which is located at the River Ridge shopping center in between World Market and Super Target has operated at the present site for 22 years.

For fans of the office supply chain, two Staples locations remain open in the Birmingham metro area. They are:

Many changes on 280

Over the past few years Highway 280 has seen a number of changes. In early 2022, after 27 years, Books-A-Million closed at Brook Highland Plaza to be replaced by a Goodwill. 

Recently, Birmingham original Lloyd’s Restaurant announced they are closing their 280 location. And earlier this year Nordstrom Rack completed their short relocation from River Ridge to The Summit.
