Happy Monday, Birmingham—you’ve made it to October. Start off the new month by getting in the know. Seven new businesses (including a dog park + fast-casual dining spot) are headed to The Magic City, and we’re saying a sad goodbye to two others. Let’s take a look.

1. Crumbl Cookies | Trussville

Cookie monsters, rejoice! Crumbl Cookies will soon be moving into the space next to Jimmy Johns according to Trussville City Council.

2. Dog Park | Irondale

Good news for our four legged friends! This week, Mayor James D. Stewart, Jr. and members of the Irondale City Council held a groundbreaking for a Dog Park coming soon to Irondale. The site is currently known as Ellard Park, located at 1st Avenue North and Ruffner Court. Stay tuned for more updates on the opening.

3. 7 Brew | Trussville

Need an energy boost? As reported by the Trussville City Council, 7 Brew Drive-thru Coffee will be constructing a new location in Trussville next to Arby’s in the Ollie’s Tractor Supply shopping center.

4. Capella Pizzeria | Trussville

Capella Pizzeria is opening its second Birmingham location in Homestead Village. The family-owned restaurant brings Italy to the Greater Birmingham Area with custom wood-fired pizza, community-style tables, classic Italian music and European football games on TV.

5. MARO | Lane Parke

Birmingham-area chef Abhi Sainju, owner of Abhi Eatery and Bar in Mountain Brook, just introduced a new fast-casual dining spot coming soon to Lane Parke. MARO will offer dine in, take out and delivery. According to Birmingham Restaurants, the Asian fusion space will serve Thai and green teas, bao-mi, signature poke and a build-your-own poke feature.

6. TownPlace Suites | Pell City

A new TownPlace Suites hotel is under construction in Pell City. The $12 million Marriott-owned hotel project should be ready by 2025, complete with 89 rooms with kitchenettes, a hotel bar, complimentary breakfast and an outdoor fire pit and pool.

7. The Hills Nutrition | Vestavia Hills

Need something refreshing to help you start your day? Check out the new smoothie and juice bar in the heart of Vestavia Hills. The shop also serves delicious teas, açaí bowls, shakes and more. Celebrate the Grand Opening on Tuesday, October 3 to enjoy discounts, giveaways and more.

Closings

1. Lloyd’s Restaurant | Inverness

Lloyd’s Restaurant, a legendary eatery on the outskirts of Birmingham, is closing its Inverness location on HWY 280. Lloyd’s is best known for its 16-ounce hamburger steak with gravy and onions. The last day for the Inverness location is October 15th.

2. Hickory Tavern | Brookwood Village

Bham Now has confirmed Hickory Tavern in Brookwood Village has closed. The North Carolina-based chain opened in The Magic City back in 2015 with a full bar and selection of 40 different wines and 100 beers. As of today, only Five Guys, the popular burger and fries (and peanuts) joint, remains on the mall property.
