First, get in the spooky mood at Auburn’s Haunted Walking Tours. Led by local folklorist and paranormal investigator Brandon Stoker and accredited historian and local author John-Mark Poe, each tour will include firsthand accounts of paranormal phenomena in downtown Auburn.

Want even more scares? Auburn-Opelika is also home to haunted houses that will be as scary as they are fun. Head to Pope’s Haunted Farm for 20 acres of terror with attractions including a haunted barn, a haunted forest and haunted hayride. You can also check out Sleepy Hollow Haunted Farm in Auburn for a family-friendly attraction.

The Opelika Songwriters Festival attracts live music fans from around the Southeast to hear award-winning, original songwriters in a variety of venues in downtown Opelika. In 2022, the festival will celebrate its third year with over twenty musicians.

This year’s lineup includes the Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins, John Paul White and more.

3. Run for Your Life Halloween 5K | Saturday, Oct. 15

If you’re looking for the perfect way to celebrate spooky season, get some movement in and give back to a great cause, look no further than the Run for Your Life 5K. In this 5K, runners and participants will be asked to wear their favorite Halloween costume, and proceeds will go back to The PRF Institute.

4. Oktoberfest | Saturday, Oct. 15
