Furry friend lovers, we have great news for you. Birmingham was just ranked number 15 as one of the most pet-friendly cities in the country. Keep reading for all the details.
The Magic City = a pet-friendly city
The word’s in—WalletHub just released their list of the most pet-friendly cities around the US and Birmingham made it near the top of that list. By looking at the 100 largest cities in the country, WalletHub placed The Magic City as number 15. Some of the other top cities include:
- Scottsdale, Arizona
- Tampa, Florida
- Portland, Oregon
- St. Louis, Missouri
- Cincinnati, Ohio
- St. Petersburg, Ohio

How was this ranking determined?
There were 23 key metrics were used to score the pet-friendliness of each city. These metrics looked at the different aspects of the well-being of our pets, such as walkability, pet-care provider rate, veterinary care costs and pet businesses per capita. Here’s how Birmingham scored:
- Total score (out of 100): 56.54
- Pet budget (out of 25): 21
- Pet health and wellness (out of 50): 20
- Outdoor pet-friendliness (out of 25): 87
