1. Cheeseburger from Not Ya Average Leaf

Gotta love a tasty vegan option that even meat-eaters would enjoy, right? (Gabby Gervais / Bham Now)

“Trust me—you’ve never tried vegan food like this before. Everything at Not Ya Average Leaf is delicious, but this burger is one of my favorites. It’s hard to believe it’s 100% vegan!”

Gabby Gervais, Content Producer

2. Fried catfish with jambalaya + cheese grits from Yo’ Mama’s

“It reminded me of the backyard fish fry my grandparents would host each summer for all our aunts, uncles and cousins, but without the extra grease and ‘I ate way too much’ sick feeling. Don’t get me wrong though—I definitely had leftovers to eat later in the day.”

Gabi Hembree-Lee, Sales Success Manager

3. Strawberry bread pudding from Juniper

This was berry delicious and I already want another. (Cecilia Wood / Bham Now)

“If you really want to know where to eat in Birmingham, look at where people go over and over again. For me, that’s Juniper.

When I close my eyes, I dream of this bread pudding. I’m a big fan of bread pudding, and this is one of the best I’ve ever had. The bread was spongy and moist without being soggy, and the fresh strawberries were bright and sweet. Don’t even get me started on the fresh whipped cream that melted into a strawberry sauce.”

Cecilia Wood, Content Producer + Social Media Manager

“I had three super delicious tacos from Moss Rock Tacos & Tequila this month. I had visited a long time ago, but this was the first time I’d been recently. I had fish and shrimp tacos—delicious!”

The Essential burger is so good it’s on the menu for brunch, lunch and dinner. I’ll take any excuse to enjoy a burger at 10AM. Pairing it with their Bloody Mary…perfection!”

Last Call Baking
Everything I’ve ever had from Last Call Baking was mind-blowing, so this is going on my list. (Jessica Broom / Bham Now)

“Fresh strawberries provided the sweetness while the ricotta was just a dollop of joy atop a beautifully flakey and buttery puff pastry. Need I say more?”

Jessica Broom, Account Executive

8. Jalapeño BLT tacos from Rojo

Don’t these look delicious?! (Pat Byington / Bham Now)

“These tacos were fantastic. Don’t let the Jalapeño bacon scare you off. The heat was just right. My wife Kathy, who is not a fan of spicy food, to my surprise loved them. With the rice and beans on the side, this April lunchtime meal on Rojo’s famous patio was a revelation. Perfect for spring.”
