The Greater Birmingham Area is booming with openings and new businesses to come. From the opening of K & J’s Elegant Pastries in Uptown on April 22 to a new ThirsTea Cafe coming mid-May, here’s what needs to be on your radar right now.
1. Bossi Leisure
Get ready to strut your stuff, Mountain Brook—Bossi Leisure is headed to English Village this May. The brand-new women’s leisurewear boutique features a number of brands like ALO, Spiritual Ganster, 9 Seeds, BOSSI and more!

2. Hugh Kaul Trail
Lace up those walking shoes and travel the Hugh Kaul Trail—part of it, anyway.
Freshwater Land Trust officially opened one segment of the newly-completed trail on April 22. It begins at 1st Ave South and 24th Street and ends in the center of Avondale Entertainment District on 41st Street.
Upon completion, the entire Hugh Kaul Trail will stretch 2.5 miles long and will connect downtown Birmingham to Ruffner Mountain. Get the full story here.

3. K & Js – Uptown
If you weren’t at Uptown on April 22 for the opening of K & J’s Elegant Pastries, where even were you? The fan favorite bakery is officially open and ready to take your order. It’ll be a mighty order, too, because this shop is all about turning a simple treat into an extravagant mind-blowing experience!

4. ThirsTea Cafe-Helena
Love boba tea? Prepare to smile this May with the opening of ThirsTea Cafe in Helena. Yep, this will be the drinkery’s third location in the Greater Birmingham Area to get your boba fix.
Located in the Walmart shopping center in Helena, the new shop will feature around 40 drinks, Taiwanese shaved ice and poke bowls.

5. Azaleas
If you find your way to Alabaster, make sure to make a pitstop at the city’s newest brunch spot, Azaleas. According to the Shelby Reporter, the restaurant is operated by former Helena-based restaurant Beignets and Lattes.
Azaleas’ menu features New Orleans brunch favorites like beignets, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, chocolate biscuits and more.

6. What’s Your Flav Shave Ice & More
What’s Your Flav has opened in Hoover—just in time for summer, too! The business, which started out as a popular food truck where you could grab a refreshing icee, now has its very first storefront on Montgomery Highway in Hoover!
Based on the nonstop line of guests during the grand opening, this is THE place to be on a hot, summer day.
