Why team bonding outings?
Sometimes the best way to bond and team-build with your co-workers is during an outing around town. People are more comfortable expressing themselves without the pressure of professionalism, plus it’s fun to get to know someone outside the workplace.
In no particular order, check out some team bonding outing ideas we’ve come up with.
1. Birmingham Rage Room
We’re not saying to rage against your co-workers, but it is fun to let off some steam. Try gathering a small group to smash metaphorical emails and meetings at the Birmingham Rage Room.
For those with kids, there’s a splatter room for everyone to go crazy.
- Location: 2616 7th Avenue South Birmingham, AL 35223
2. Host a lunch
One of the Bham Now team’s favorite go-to spots for a group lunch would be at The Birmingham Botanical Gardens. We’ve been there multiple times to celebrate and we recommend booking a shady spot in the fall or spring for the ultimate weather.
BONUS: Persue our local restaurant directory to find a new spot to eat with your team every week.
3. Go to a game
Now since it’s baseball and soccer season, there are plenty of opportunities to head to a Baron’s or a Legion FC game with your team. Even if you’re not a fan of sports, games are a great way to chat casually and build meaningful relationships!
4. Paddywax Candle Bar
For the more creative team, head over to the Paddywax Candle Bar where you can pour your own custom candle. This is a great way to laugh and just enjoy the others around you. You’re bound to have a great time, plus you get to take home a new candle!
- Location: 216 Summit Blvd #105, Birmingham, AL 35243
- Hours: Thursday-Friday: 12-7 PM; Saturday: 11 AM-7 PM; Sunday: 12-6 PM
5. Botanica
For a smaller team that has an affinity for anything green, try hosting an event with Botanica. You and your team can plant your own succulents at one of their events around Birmingham.
Plus, you can add the plants to the office so you all have something nice to look at and remember the great time you possibly had.
6. Escape Room
If you have a team of thinkers, then this is the outing you should try. Spark your creativity and thinking skills by collaborating in an escape room at Locked In. We promise it’s not stressful!

Out of the myriad of breweries in Birmingham, at least one will host a trivia night. Take your team to Trimtab for a Trivia Night on Monday, April 11. It’ll cure your Monday blues!
Every Tuesday at Cahaba Brewing, there is a tacos and trivia party with prizes at the end. Enjoy some team bonding over tacos from The Current and a cold Cahaba Blonde.
