Hooray for more opening news! Today, we’re bringing you six new businesses that have or will open their doors so soon. Excited to dive in? Let’s go.
1. Sara Sells
Meet your new furniture BFFs. Sara Sells is a Tennessee-based company looking to plant their roots a little further south. The concept? A once-a-month warehouse sale of furniture, home decor and more—all at a great price. If you’re tired of waiting on “out of stock” items and ridiculous shipping times, you’ll be thrilled to know that everything is ready to be picked up in stores. They offer both pick-up the following week of their sale or local delivery so you’ll be able to get your items home in a flash.
They’ve given us a sneak peek on their Instagram to some of the fun products that will be coming your way. The space looks huge and we are excited to get to shop for the perfect piece. Their projected opening is Saturday, April 30 and their online sale starts Sunday, May 1.
2. Five Guys | Hoover
Hailed as one of the best burgers in town, a Five Guys burger is a classic menu item you know you can count on. Soon, they’ll be headed to Hoover. Construction has started and the sign is up—visible from the highway itself. The new shopping center, Cahaba Market, already features Dunkin’, Anatole’s Bike Shop and will be home to Jersey Mikes this fall.
Can’t wait to get a taste of their burgers? Head out to the Trussville or Homewood locations to get a sneak peek at the fun that Five Guys will bring to Hoover.

3. Grand G’s Kitchen | Leeds
The motto at Grand G’s: Home Style Food With Big City Flavor. Looking at the picture of these Philly cheesesteaks—that’s about right. Although this new spot opened back in October, they had the ribbon cutting scheduled for a very specific day—dedicated to owner LaWanda’s late father. They called him Grand G, hence the name.
Today, Grand G’s offers some out-of-this-world menu items as well as some famous patrons (Charles Barkley pictured above). With a changing menu, you’ll always find something you’ll like, from a meat and three plate to an order of wings, cooked fresh to order. All we know is that we’ll have to make time to try it out.

4. Mikey’s Grill on Wheels
Many of you know of Mikey’s Grill in Hoover—the seafood spot that took the Birmingham area by storm. Now, get ready for Mikey’s Grill…On Wheels. We’re not sure about the official menu items, but know it’ll be worth the wait.
Some popular menu items at Mikey’s include: Chicken Saltimbocca, Sautéed Macadamia Nut Crusted Snapper and Baked Salmon with Lemon Butter Dill Sauce. Sounds absolutely delicious—we’re in.
5. Twenty Twelve Formal Wear | Homewood
Have an event coming up but don’t know what to wear? Check out Twenty Twelve Formal Wear—your destination for head to toe, high end apparel that’s perfect for a night on the town. Not ready to commit to buying an outfit? Twenty Twelve lets your rent pieces—because you shouldn’t sacrifice a look just based on price.
Check them out for homecoming, prom, pageants and more. This new business is still undergoing some construction, but we’ll share more details when we get them.
6. Lens Crafters | The Summit
LensCrafters is one of the few new places that has just opened at The Summit—right next to the existing Barnes and Noble. Not only do they conduct eye exams but they also sell sunglasses, eyeglasses and can even write you a prescription for contacts.
Plus, check their website for easy-to-book eye exams to make taking care of your eyes easier than ever.
