What if you could make an impact on the lives of critically-ill children in Alabama by simply donating gently-used items? Through a Make-A-Wish Alabama‘s partnership with America’s Thrift Stores, it’s possible! Read on to learn how.
Your donations change lives
At Bham Now, we love learning about local businesses and nonprofits working together to do great things. So, we were thrilled to discover America’s Thrift Stores plays an important role in helping Make-A-Wish Alabama with their mission to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses in the state of Alabama.
Currently 250 kids are waiting for a wish in Alabama; around 90 of those kids are in Birmingham. To help grant their wishes, America’s Thrift Stores partnered with Make-A-Wish Alabama in 2018. During this time, they have donated over $4 million to the nonprofit. In 2021 alone, they donated over $1 million.
How is this possible? It’s all due to the generous donations of gently-used clothing and household items from people like you in the community.
“Every time you donate your gently-used clothing and household items to America’s Thrift Stores, you’re helping us bring hope and joy, not just for an Alabama child with a critical illness, but for their entire family. Your used items help renew hope, uplift spirits and encourage these children fighting illnesses to fight harder. For every pound of goods donated to America’s Thrift, we make a financial contribution to Make-A-Wish Alabama.”
