Happy Monday, Bham! It’s no secret that we love new openings, and today, we’ve got a whole round of openings that you have to try. Plus, we have new locations of a couple of tried and true favorites. Keep reading to see what should be on your agenda this week.

1. Cannella Gelato

The comeback story of the year: Cannella Gelato will be reopening their doors this Fall in their new Mercantile on Morris location. Previously located in the Brookwood Mall food court, this artisanal gelateria fell victim to the pandemic earlier this summer. But now, they are back and better than ever in their new space.

Cannella sources local ingredients and has everyday flavors as well as seasonal offerings to get you excited as the seasons change. While there’s no official opening date, keep an eye out on our Instagram as well as theirs for the 4-1-1.

2. City Bowls | Samford Café

Get excited, Homewood + Samford students. Starting Monday, September 13, there will be a new addition to the Samford Café—City Bowls. As a former Samford student myself, City Bowls will be a nice addition to afternoons on Ben Brown Plaza.

Don’t worry, Homewood residents. If you don’t want to head over the mountain to the Highway 280 location, this one’s for you. While this location may reside on a college campus, it will be open to all during the hours of 11 AM-2:30 PM on weekdays for you to get your açaí fix. With its full menu available, it’s never been easier to get exactly what you’re craving.

3. Reiki Association of the Southeast

Moving into their new space on Highland Ave. inside Temple Beth El, the Reiki Association of the Southeast is here to partner with the community and seeks to support, educate, and bring awareness to the benefits of Reiki. For those who may not know, Reiki is a practice of natural healing that aims to bring the body back to a sense of balance—something we all need lately.

They will start by offering lectures, classes, healing circles and private treatments to create a collaborative workspace for each of these professionals to further develop their own professional practices. How cool is that?

4. Bob’s Unclaimed Freight

Just like a retail store…but with a twist. Bob’s Unclaimed Freight is your go-to destination for the ultimate treasure hunt. They sell brand new merchandise that was lost in shipping for deeply discounted rates. Talk about scoring some great finds!

With a larger space than their Springville store, they are able to offer more variety—such as clothing, shoes and outdoor furniture. The best part? Bob’s is officially open for business in their new location in Trussville, plus they receive new shipments all the time to keep it fresh, so you’ll never see the same thing twice.

  • Location: 1935 U.S, Hwy 11, Trussville, AL 35173

That’s all we’ve got for today, Birmingham. Know of any other openings near you? Let us know on our Instagram here.
