Come get to know the beautiful and historic Highland Park Neighborhood at the third annual “It’s Nice to Have You in Highland Park” porch crawl—and stick around for an after party at Rojo.

Birmingham’s Highland Park Neighborhood Association is opening its parks and porches for an afternoon of family-friendly fun, fellowship and appreciation of beautifully preserved homes. Explore the neighborhood, meet the locals and even participate in a scavenger hunt at this choose-your-own-adventure-style tour of one of Birmingham’s most picturesque neighborhoods.

Why ‘It’s Nice to Have You in Highland Park’ is worth the walk

Go at your own pace through this Highland Park porch crawl starting at 3PM on Sunday, October 18, 2026. Each stop will feature something different, ranging from live music, light refreshments, tours of historic homes and gardens and a scavenger hunt hosted by Birmingham Historical Society.

There will also be local vendors around Rushton and Rhodes Parks, including Mario’s Ice Cream Truck and Blue LadyBug Face Painting.

You can stop at several local businesses and nonprofits to hear about their missions and see what they are planning for upcoming events and programming.

  • Faraway Theatre
  • Greenbriar at the Altamont
  • Independent Presbyterian Church
  • + more

The porch crawl will conclude at Rojo at 5PM, where live music and free chips and salsa are on the agenda for those looking to sit and stay a while.

100% of proceeds from the day will benefit Friends of Highland Park, Birmingham Historical Society, and Alabama Audubon helping them continue their work towards making Highland Park and beyond beautiful places to live.
