Everyone knows that tequila is a happy hour staple, so it’s no surprise that it has its own holiday. What better way to celebrate than to pour up and party? Check out our guide to some of our favorite cocktails in Birmingham to help you bring in National Tequila Day.

1. Sol Y Luna Tapas & Tequilas

We’re kicking this guide off with Sol Y Luna Tapas & Tequilas. Instead of serving their regular food menu, they’ll have a special menu that will feature their Cantina Tortilla Grill tacos, nachos and truck fries. Of course, they’ll also have specials on margaritas, tequila and beer.

Their celebration takes place from 4-10PM, so make sure to get there early because it’ll be first come, first served. There will also be live music and giveaways!

2. Mayawell

If you’re looking to step outside the box with your cocktails, Mayawell is the spot for you. They have a variety of drinks that range from spicy to sweet, with tequila being the star of the show in the majority of them.

Today, they’ll be doing 10% off tequila flights from 4-7PM.

3. Queen’s Park

Queen’s Park has the colorful cocktails we love with the aesthetics to match. Celebrate the holiday this weekend with their Carolina Cross. It’s a drink composed of blanco tequila, Italian aperitivo, watermelon syrup and lime juice.

4. Little Donkey

Little Donkey never misses when it comes to their crispy fried chicken and their bomb cocktails. Speaking of cocktails, they’ll be offering $5 frozen margaritas all day in honor of National Tequila Day, so stop by and grab yourself a drink…or three to celebrate.

While you’re there, make sure to check out their new Watermelon Margarita. Something tells me it has potential to be the new drink of the summer.

5. Dread River Distilling Company

Dread River Distilling Company has been nationally recognized as the 5th best new distillery in the nation. Who’s really surprised though? Stop by Saturday to get a margarita, and get a taste of that blue agave spirit. Trust us, you will not be disappointed.

6. Moss Rock Tacos & Tequila

Moss Rock Tacos & Tequila is throwing a celebration sponsored by Jose Cuervo for National Tequila Day. There will be live music, free swag with any purchase (while supplies last so get there early) and food specials including $2 off full orders of nachos. They’re also coming through with the drink specials.

They’ll have $5 house margarita, $4 tequila shots and $2 Miller High Life bottles. They’re kid and pet friendly, so grab the gang and head out to Moss Rock for a good time.

7. The Lumbar

One thing about the Lumbar is that they’re going to be creative and give us a fun cocktail menu. Celebrate National Tequila Day with their current Shark Week theme, and check out the Great Barrier Reef cocktail. It contains Hornitos reposado tequila, grapefruit, fresh strawberries, basil and lime.

Their Shark Week-inspired cocktail menu will be available until August 31st, so if you can’t make it Saturday there is still time to experience it.

8. Maya Mexican Restaurant

Now I love a good margarita, but I’ve never experienced one infused with Hennessy. I’m totally here for it though. In honor of National Tequila Day, Maya Mexican Restaurant is putting a twist on their tequila margarita by adding a Hennessy floater. These special margaritas will be available for $3.95 all day long.
