A staple delicious dessert of the South, pecan pie never disappoints. You might usually associate this syrupy sweet more with the Fall months. However, this Monday, July 12, being National Pecan Pie Day should give you all the reasons to enjoy a slice this summer.

1. JaWanda’s Sweet Potato Pies

Named the best pie shop in Alabama according to USA Today, JaWanda’s is here to satisfy your pecan pie craving. Grab one of their mini pies perfect for one, or splurge on a large one and share the love with your friends and family.

Even though they aren’t open on actual National Pecan Pie Day, we say you can celebrate a few days late in the case of these treats. Their buttery crust and thick pecan filling will make you feel like every day is pecan pie day.

Take a bite of Edolyn’s homemade pecan pie, and you’ll feel like you’re on cloud 9. This crunchy exterior and gooey inside will make it hard for you not to finish an entire pie in one setting.

You can find their pies at Pizits Food Hall downtown, Bre’s Gourmet Restaurant & Catering, Rib-It-Up and The Shops at Grand River in Leeds.

The Continental Bakery in English Village is a quaint spot serving up big flavors in one of my favorite bakeries in town. You can’t go wrong with any of the sweets here, but for National Pecan Pie Day their homemade pecan pie is a must.

You can order ahead on their website to make sure you get the pie you want and even add an extra Belgian chocolate drizzle to your pecan pie if you’re feeling extra.

5. Savage’s Bakery

Savage’s is on a short vacation until July 13, but the pecan pies here are so good we had to include them on our list. For a little under $20 you can get one of their delicious pies packed full of the sweet signature nuts.
