Nothing screams summer more than sipping a refreshing cocktail on your patio. If you want to test your own mixology skills while supporting local, check out these six Birmingham-made spirits.

1. Redmont Distilling Co.

Did you know Charles Barkley owns a Birmingham spirit distillery? Redmont Distilling Co. distills Redmont Vodka and Vulcan Gin, both which are gluten-free, non-GMO and distilled eight times.

Need some drink inspiration? Try one of Redmont Distilling Co.’s featured drinks that are simple but pack a major punch, like The Charles Barkley with Redmont Vodka, cranberry juice and soda water.

2. Campesino Rum

This summer, my bucket list is to try every drink with Campesino Rum in it. It’s available in a ton of our go-to local bars like Carrigan’s Public House and Queen’s Park, plus it makes for an amazing homemade mojito.

3. Dread River Distilling Company

Dread River is the largest distillery in the history of Alabama, so you can bet they know what they’re doing. Whether you head to their event space or bring a bottle home to test your bartending skills, you’ll be drinking a top local choice.

4. Cahaba Brewing Co.

If you’ve been lucky enough to try one of Cahaba Brewing’s cocktails, you know why I’m excited that they distill their own spirits. Seriously, the Cahaberry lemonade is one of my favorite refreshing drinks.

5. Ghost Train

If you love live music and delicious food trucks, you’re probably no stranger to Ghost Train Brewing Company. But did you know they distill their own Proven Spirits™️ Vodka and sell ready-to-drink canned cocktails? That kind of news is life-changing if you ask me.

Sweet Home Spirits is the newest Birmingham spirit maker on the block, and I, for one, am excited to find it out and about in bars this summer.

“I wanted to champion an Alabama-branded spirit line and reinvigorate this love affair with Sweet Home Alabama and karaoke bars across the world. We also want to be a brand that Alabamians can get behind as we explore what really makes an Alabama whiskey.”

Austin Wade Creel, Founder, Sweet Home Spirits
