It’s time to add another spot to your Birmingham brewery bucket list: Ferus Artisan Ales is adding a new location to Avondale. We caught up with Ferus to find out what to expect in their new location in the old Fancy’s on Fifth in Avondale.

Ferus Artisan Ales is a Trussville favorite

Ferus Artisan Ales opened in Trussville in October 2019 in Trussville’s Entertainment District. It’s a local favorite, and for good reason—they’re serving up everything from hoppy IPAs and creative sours to delicious sandwiches and apps.

Along with great drinks and meals, Ferus offers exciting events that everyone can enjoy. Live music, bingo, comedy nights, yoga classes and more.

It’s pretty clear why this taproom and eatery is such a popular hangout spot. We can’t wait to have them in the heart of Avondale.

Ferus Artisan Ales announced their new Avondale location by creating a Facebook page called “Ferus on 41st”. Their new brewery will call the former Fancy’s on Fifth location home.

Fancy’s on Fifth closed on New Year’s Eve due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has taken a major toll on local businesses and reminded us all why it’s so important to shop local. We’re sad to say goodbye to such a great Birmingham restaurant, but we’re excited another local favorite will continue bringing great food + drinks to the city.

What can you expect at Ferus on 41st?

Ferus on 41st will offer a fantastic selection of beers from their Trussville brewery, including funky sours and IPAs. You can also enjoy tasty bites from their chef-curated menu, with options like their smash burger and pickle-brined tenders. Plus, they’ll have a few menu items just for their Avondale location.

“We’ve always known with the main taproom out in Trussville, that we would eventually need something more centrally located. Thus we’re super excited to get Ferus on 41st open and sharing more of our food and beers to downtown Birmingham. Expect some really cool food items and enjoy beers exclusive to the Ferus taprooms.”

Nate Darnell, Head Brewer

Ready to mark your calendars? They’re planning to open by the end of the summer—so be sure to follow their Instagram and Facebook for updates.
