A sneak peek at the Lakeview Green mixed-use development, coming Summer 2021
Last week, several Bham Nowers were invited to BirminghamCREW‘s exclusive hardhat tour of the Lakeview Green mixed-use development, hosted by SRS Real Estate Partners. Here are a few things we can’t wait to see when the development opens this summer.
A Refresher Course on Lakeview Green
Bham Now first wrote about Lakeview Green in early 2020 when we learned about the upcoming mixed-use development in the works near the Lakeview Entertainment District. With developments popping up left and right, Lakeview is a hot, hot, hot part of town. And Lakeview Green isn’t your typical high-rise.
Once complete, developer KRE Ventures aims to make Lakeview Green a “middle ground” between the Lakeview Entertainment District and Pepper Place. Imagine relaxing by the koi pond while you wait for your reservation at Automatic Seafood, or before heading to The Market at Pepper Place to pick up some fresh fruits and veggies?
Here are some more details:
- 118 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments
- 31,000 sq ft of retail space
- Hundreds of fully covered, reserved and gated parking spaces
- A fitness center, herb garden and more
Developer KRE Ventures is working with several local firms to help the project come to life, including:
- General Contractor: Stewart/Perry Co.
- Property Manager: Engel Realty Co.
- Commercial Broker: SRS Real Estate
An Inside Look at Lakeview Green
For nonresidents, the outdoor greenspace is where the party really gets started. First, let’s talk about the water. Although The Magic City is technically a port city, it’s no secret that downtown Birmingham is lacking in riverfront greenspace. Lakeview Green aims to change that by creating their own river.
Now, I’m not talking about the Tennessee or the Mississippi, here—it’s more of a peaceful stream. The lazy river will feed into a pond filled with gorgeous, colorful Koi. And that’s not all. The greenspace will also feature fire pits for socializing and a pet-friendly park with walking paths.
Let’s talk retail. With 31,000 square feet of retail space available on the property, Lakeview Green is planning to include 3-5 restaurants and other upscale retail merchants. We’ve heard rumors of Tex-Mex restaurants, coffee shops, sushi bars, bubble tea joints and even barber shops.
What’s Next for Lakeview Green?
With the project nearing the final stages of construction, Lakeview Green will soon be open. In fact, the team estimates that the development’s retail outlets will open in May, with open apartments following up in June and July.
