No two Birmingham hot dogs are alike. 9 local spots that have a hot dog for everyone.
Back in the day, we gave you a guide to Birmingham’s 11 best hotdogs. But, with the recent (hopefully temporary) closure of Hot Diggity Dogs and a new decade we felt we needed a refresher on Birmingham hot dogs. Take a look at where you can find Birmingham’s take on the ballpark favorite.
1. Sol’s Hot Dogs
Get your hotdog with a side of history—around 50 years of it. Sol’s has been in the Birmingham hot dog business for a long time, but if you’re not from around the area you may have overlooked it. Do a deep dive into Facebook and Google reviews, however, you’ll see it’s a staple among locals.

- Location: 3002 12th Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35234

2. Mile End Birmingham
The Jewish Delicatessen hails straight from Brooklyn, so you can trust these Birmingham hot dogs live up to the hype. Mile End has an entire day of the week dedicated to them, in-fact. On Hot Dog Thursday all beef hotdogs are only $6.99. The fact that it also comes with Golden Flake chips and Grapico really adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the entire experience.
Not to mention, they have an adorable mini version we totally should’ve added to our tiny guide:
- Hours: Everyday 7AM-8PM
- Location: 1701 1st Avenue South Suite 135, Suite 135, Birmingham, AL 35233

3. Tony’s Hot Dogs
Think you found the best Birmingham hot dogs? If it’s not at Tony’s Big 7 Travel might disagree with you. Last year it named Tony’s Hot Dogs in Pelham as the best place to find a hot dog in Alabama and America.
Although Tony’s is featured on our previous guide, it’s important to mention again, given recent accolades. Currently in its 26th year of business, Tony’s is a fan-favorite.

4. Chicago Mike’s Hot Dogs
Not only are people buzzing about how tasty these hot dogs are, but customers also boast about the friendly service and amazing atmosphere. I mean, it’s pretty hard to be in a bad mood when you’re eating a hot dog, right? Add to that one with cream cheese on it? Amazing.

5. True Story Brewing
If ya hadn’t heard, this place is home to the great pickle sandwich of Birmingham (our name, not theirs). Did you know they also have a nice little menu of hotdogs? Keep an eye out for updates and additions, like the The Blazer Dog. Just read the description above—enough said.

7. Brät Brot
Who first put the hot dog in a bun, Americans or Germans? The history is a little fuzzy, but either way, we’re happy the delicacy exists. While a frankfurter isn’t exactly like an American hot dog, it’s always good to expand your culinary pallete—at least when it comes to hot dogs.

8. Bandit Pâtisserie
Is this a hot dog? NO! But, I wanted to throw a wild card in here for those of us who get a craving for Birmingham hot dogs at 7AM. The Conecuh Sausage Croissant is your traditional hot dog’s early morning, fancier cousin.
- Hours: Every day 7AM-5PM

9. The Craft Burger
The Craft Burger keeps it fresh and funky with their dogs. From classics like the chili cheese dog to deep-fried and pimento cheese-layered, this place goes beyond burgers and delivers some great Birmingham hot dogs.
