Can’t stop won’t stop.  -Birmingham’s food scene

Birmingham’s restaurant and bar list keeps growing and we can’t wait to try out all these new places.  If you didn’t see last week’s roundup, read up here.

Now onward to more glorious meals. Our mouths are already watering.

A science-themed bar and restaurant called Lumbar will be opening in Pepper Place on July 20th. Fittingly, that’s the day Apollo 11 landed on the moon.

The father-daughter duo behind this cool new concept are combining science with great food and drinks at 2821 2nd Ave S.  And they’re bringing their New Mexico roots with them. The restaurant’s menu will feature ingredients like green chiles in their hotdogs and hamburgers.

Lumbar will feature interactive science demonstrations, meeting spaces for lab groups, scientific decor and complimentary chips and salsa.   Glass meeting rooms will be available for the more productive guests and TVs for the sports fans.

This sounds like a really unique watering hole that you’ll definitely want to keep your eye on. Show them some love on Instagram here.

Guadalajara Grill closed the doors of its Riverchase location ten years ago and is finally reopening right up the street in the old California Pizza Kitchen here.

The Mexican Grill will be sure to serve up long-time customer favorites from fajitas to tacos to open-faced tortillas.  Pro tip: try the specialty dish called camarones escondidas which has shrimp, chicken and an amazing chipotle wine sauce.

We’re excited to see the grill back and better than ever as they open in the next few days.

A macaron expert and French Pastry chef teamed up to create this concept in 2007. Now ‘Lette Macarons will be serving their ah-mazing ganache-filled almond cookies in seven locations and online.

The beloved Homewood Diner closed its doors last week with the ominous statement that “there is a new and exciting concept coming behind us” according to their Facebook page.

We’re not sure what that means but we’d love to hear your ideas. Goodbye Homewood Diner, you will be missed.

A snazzy pizza place is coming to Lane Park and our taste buds are pretty pumped.  This chain at 270 Rele Street will offer classic Neopolitan pizzas, apps, and of course gelato.  See the full menu here.

MidiCi plans to open in June and will offer affordable and authentic pizza in a beautiful space. The Lane Park pizzeria will be complete with a live olive tree, open-air kitchen, and two gold mosaic wood firing ovens.
