14 Pihakis restaurants now closed in Birmingham (and beyond) + what’s still open

In the past three weeks, numerous restaurants owned by the Pihakis Restaurant Group (PRG) have closed their doors—some temporarily and some for good. Read on for the full list of PRG-owned restaurants that have closed and which are still open.

Here are the PRG restaurants that have closed so far

Tasty Town Greek Restaurant & Lounge

Located across from Railroad Park in Birmingham’s Parkside District, Tasty Town closed permanently on Sunday, April 12, after four years in Birmingham.

HERO Doughnuts & Buns

As of Wednesday, April 29, the Hero in Homewood (1726 28th Ave S, Homewood, AL 35209) is the diner’s only remaining location. Previously, Pihakis Restaurant Group operated nine Hero locations in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.

Rodney Scott’s BBQ

Founded in 2017 by Rodney Scott and Nick Pihakis, Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ had six locations throughout Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. As of Wednesday, April 29, the restaurant’s locations in Charleston, SC (1011 King St, Charleston, SC 29403), Atlanta, GA (668 Metropolitan Pkwy SW, Atlanta, GA 30310), Nashville TN (200 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37201) and Homewood (2701 18th St S, Homewood, AL 35209) remain open.

Little Donkey

Founded in 2012, Little Donkey is a chain of Southern-influenced Mexican restaurants owned by Pihakis Restaurant Group. Of the chain’s four locations in Alabama, the locations in Homewood (2701 18th St S Ste 200, Birmingham, AL 35209), Eastchase Montgomery (7720 Eastchase Pkwy Ste B1, Montgomery, AL 36117) and Downtown Montgomery (378 N Perry St, Montgomery, AL 36104) remain open as of Wednesday, April 29.

Luca & Lucy

Luca & Lucy opened at Valley Post in December of 2025 as a “little sister” to the Luca Lagotto and Mercato Lagotto in Homewood. Luca & Lucy closed, along with three other restaurants at Valley Post, on Monday, April 27.

Psito

Psito is a fast-casual Greek restaurant owned by PRG that opened in Atlanta’s Summerhill neighborhood in 2025. As of Wednesday, April 29, the restaurant is temporarily closed.
