The wait is over. Freddy’s Bistro & Bar has opened in Homewood at the old Nabeel’s Cafe space.

Located at 1706 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood, AL 35209, the new Freddy’s is its second Birmingham Metro location. The original Freddy’s resides in The Magic City’s Highland Park neighborhood.

Plans for the Homewood Freddy’s have been in the works for over a year.

The building it occupies, which straddles both Oxmoor Road and Central Avenue, has gone through a complete transformation.

This spring, the Hero Doughnuts moved out of the building relocating north down Central Avenue near the Dance Foundation and the new Luca Lagotto Restaurant on 28th Street.

Replacing Hero were Tina’s Market and Goodie’s Toy Store.

Freddy’s Bistro & Bar takes over the former legendary Nabeel Cafe site.
