Mark your calendars for Emerald Lounge’s grand opening June 2

I know what you’re thinking, “I wish there was a cool, sophisticated cocktail lounge around East Lake.” Well, today is your lucky day. Emerald Lounge is having its grand opening this weekend, June 2-4. You’ll want to keep reading for all the details on The Magic City’s newest addition.

Why East Lake?

Emerald Lounge is located at 7619 1st Avenue North, taking over the space that East 59 Cafe used to occupy. Owner Arlond James, or AJ James, is leasing the space along with two silent partners.

James expressed his passion and ideas for Emerald Lounge to Bham Now.

“More than just a place to drink, Emerald Lounge is a community of people who share a passion for the finer things in life. It’s a place where guests can come to socialize, connect with others, and make memories that will last a lifetime.”

James is dedicated to breaking the negative stereotypes about the community and hopes that the work done through Emerald Lounge will help inspire and motivate future generations of Black entrepreneurs.

“Black-owned businesses are often better placed to address the unique needs and wants of black consumers. They can create products and services that are tailored to the cultural and social contexts of their community, which can be difficult for non-black businesses to do.”

What can I expect?

This location is 3,648-square-foot and approximately 450 square feet is the kitchen and behind-the-bar space.

The owners are planning to make 10-15 hires, serving signature cocktails such as:

• Thee Emerald, basil vodka and lime
• Passion & Bliss, passionfruit vodka, lime, ginger
• Two-seven, it’s a surprise!
