East Pole Coffee nears June opening in the Denham Building
Reading time: 3 minutes
Buzzy news, y’all! East Pole Coffee Co. is opening in the Denham Building in Birmingham this June. From coffee and pastries to a rad horseshoe-shaped bar, read on to learn why you’ll be obsessed with this incoming coffee bar.
From ATL to BHAM
East Pole Coffee Co. first announced it’d be joining The Magic City back in 2021. At long last, the moment we’ve been waiting for is finally here. East Pole co-owner Jules Tompkins let us know that Birmingham’s first location in the Denham Building is nearing completion. Though there’s no opening date yet, you can expect to step in line for your coffee fix in early June.
As an Atlanta-based coffee shop, what led East Pole to The Magic City?
“We love the southeast, generally, and knew we’d eventually love to have stores outside of Atlanta. When we first looked at real estate in Birmingham, we loved the friendliness of the town and saw a ton of cool projects popping up, both in coffee specifically and in hospitality generally.
We have worked with the developers responsible for the Denham Building—Third and Urban—in the past and have a ton of respect for the quality they bring to their projects.”

Indoor expectations
Nothing beats a coffee shop with great vibes, and I think you’ll love what you discover when you walk through the doors of East Pole Coffee Co. Think bold blues, sleek wood and an overall inviting space.
“We built a pretty dramatic, horseshoe-shaped bar to maximize the vertical space that features a dozen barstools. All of our surfaces are walnut and we’ve maximized perimeter seating. There’s a ton of natural light flowing in. We’re thrilled with how the space turned out.”

A peek at the menu
Whether you like your coffee dolled up and fancy or you take it black, you’ll find it at East Pole. On the menu, you can expect everything from cappuccinos to single-origin pour-overs and Spirit teas.
If you dig seasonal beverages, East Pole will offer a variety year-round. Their newest concoction is a key lime pie-inspired drink—perfect for the coming summer months.
“Our guests love our seasonal beverages…we’ve had Earl Grey lattes and Christmas Cookie cappuccinos, among others.”

You can also expect to see some light fare pastries on the menu made by local Birmingham bakeries.
