What’s your go-to order? (Boho Tea Bar / Facebook)

Boho Tea Bar is gearing up to open its second location in Montevallo. With boba and fruit tea, lemonade, coffee, aƧaĆ bowls and pastries on their menu, you know I’m putting this on my list of places to go to. Even better, their menu changes weekly with a new drink introduced every Tuesday.

ā€œEverything is customizable to the taste of the customer. If somebody wants to be creative and come up with their own drink, we highly encourage that. They can tweak what we have as well. We hand-make all the drinks to order.ā€

Grab your party crewā€”Fairway Social will be your new Friday night spot for fun. This Atlanta-based entertainment concept is coming to Birmingham in early 2023 at Parkside Districtā€™s Urban Supply.

If you want it, Fairway Social has it. We’re talking about virtual sports games, food, drinks, live music, darts, cornhole and ping pong.

3. Scenthound | Mountain Brook

Scenthound
Only the best care for our furry friends. (Scenthound)

We have routine haircuts, dentist appointments, etc., so why shouldn’t our pets? Scenthound knows a happy pet is one that’s well cared for. With monthly memberships starting at $35, Scenthound focuses on the five core areas ofĀ maintenanceĀ that all dogs need:

  • Coat
  • Ears
  • Nails
  • Skin
  • Teeth

This Birmingham-based dog grooming concept is opening its second metro location in Mountain Brook this November.

4. Davenport’s Pizza Palace | Vestavia Hills

I call myself a pizza connoisseur (New York born and raised, so I’ve had A LOT of pizza) and Davenport’s Pizza Palace makes me feel right at home. Also, this restaurant makes eating out so much funā€”you can play classic video games like Frogger, Mario Brothers and Ms. Pac-Man.

ā€œWhen we found this space (Vestavia City Center), it was very appealing. I thought personally, this is a place I would bring my family.

This particular location seemed to fit us very well. We knew we wanted a game room and we had a spot for that. We wanted to add a few things like a bar and TVs where people can enjoy a football game or watch the Braves. So far, it seems the Vestavia community likes it too.ā€

5. Getaway Coosa River | Childersburg

Looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle? Just one hour from Birmingham, Getaway Coosa River is home to 45 luxury cabins. These cabins have everything you need to spend time in nature, including river views, hammocks, a smokeless fire pit and more. I think this is your sign to book a weekend fall getaway.

6. The Greenhouse | Ensley

The Flourish has the vision to help young artists find the space and opportunity to thrive. Now, they’ll be able to even do that better with their new event space, The Greenhouse. It will be used by artists to host workshops, open mics, showcases and more.

On October 23 at 7PM, The Greenhouse officially opens its doors for its Greenhouse Special. Get excited for live performances, a Q&A with the Flourish Team and more surprises.

Personally, I’m obsessed with their pastel rainbow balloonsā€”talk about CUTE. Join the party on Tuesday, October 11 at 10AM Ā where you can shop for gifts, party supplies and seasonal items in their store.

“It’s an absolute dream to be able to open a storefront and watch my passion for celebrations continue to grow. I fell in love with the creative process of planning my daughter’s first birthday and seeing the magic of a celebration through her eyes. I am beyond thankful for the opportunity to create special moments for my clients, their loved ones and this wonderful community.”

Opening in the former Hoover location of Dreamcakes Cafe, K & Jā€™s Elegant Pastries is bringing their sweet treats to Ross Bridge. If you haven’t already visited their Uptown location, you need to put it on your list of places to try (I’d go for the strawberry cupcake). This sweet spot was featured for its tasty desserts in media across the country,Ā including Food Network, so you know it’s the real deal.

9. Southern Market | Gardendale

Southern Market Gardendale
We’re excited to see Southern Market’s doors open again. (Southern Market)

After temporarily closing during the summer of 2022 due to a damaged powerline, Southern Market is back and better than ever. This beloved, local grocery store is selling all of the items you need to make your tasty meals at home once again. Plus, they’ve expanded their meat offerings.

Southern Market owner Rachel Hodges wants to thank the loyal customers that have been there for the business throughout its temporary closure:Ā

“Every single day since we have been down, we have had somebody send us a message about how they miss us. That means the world to us because thatā€™s our livelihood and we feel like this is our outreach: serving the community.ā€

Rachel Hodges, Owner, Southern Market
